Invitations- question about wording

Hi everybody! Hope you're all having a great Sunday, it's beautiful today where I am and just spent an afternoon by the pool soaking up some sun :)

I have a question about our invitations. We are having the ceremony at a local church and the reception will be 3 blocks away at a Marriott hotel and convention center. Originally, I planned on including a reception card with the Marriott info separately (only difference was it had the address). Now, I am wondering if it is totally against etiquette to have the invitation with the church and address, and at the bottom say "Reception immediately following at Name of Town Marriott". It wouldn't have the Marriott's address, but it is very easy to find and I plan on having our wedding website address included on a separate card in the invitation with all the info. that anyone would need including address, directions, etc. I could buy cheaper paper from Michaels to do this vs. paying $50 extra for reception cards to include with the invitations. What do you girls think?

Re: Invitations- question about wording

  • Putting the info right on the invitation is totally fine.

Wouldn't it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong?
  • Information on the invite is fine -- A good idea may be to include direction cards at the ceremony site. Even if it's 3 blocks away, some people prefer written directions/mini map to know where they're going. [:

  • If you don't include a card with the address/directions in the invite, you definitely need to give out a paper/card at the ceremony with the directions. Many older guests may not be comfortable with online directions/maps.
  • I think it is fine to have it on the invitation.  I also think you could include the address on the invitation if you have enough space.  If you can include a directions card as well, that is helpful too (we printed our own at home, didn't order with the invites and they looked fine).  Include directions in the ceremony program as well if you have those.
