What did you wear for your engagement pictures? PIP

I don't know if I should go with something super-casual or something more fun and springy.  We're doing our pictures in the public gardens in a couple of weeks, and I'm thinking of wearing the dress below:

  • I love maxi dresses but I'm not sold on wearing one for e-photos.  I think a short dress would look much better.  JMO.
  • Good point.  A maxi dress eliminates certain possibilities, like cute shoes, etc.  I think I'm going to have to go shopping and see if I can find anything acceptable.  Where did you get your e-pic dress?  It looks like Anthropologie or Marc Jacobs?

  • LOL.  You know you're obsessed with clothes when you can guess where other people buy theirs.

  • Casual look - jeans and t-shirts

More formal - FI is wearing grey pants and black dress shoes

FWIW, our photographers did a session of themselves last year, and she wore a patterned dress. I think the second one you posted would work, but why not ask your photographer?
  • Emily- You are ADORABLE!!!!  Love the shoes with the dress in the second picture, and LOVE your wedding dress.  I just had a fashion-gasm.

I think I will ask the photographer...I haven't because I am not a huge fan of his personal style, but I don't think I should let that affect his knowledge as a professional.

  • There are a bunch of ours in my bio.  I did a solid shirt and dressy jeans for one outfit, and a silk print dress for the other outfit.  It's a big, bold print, though, and it turned out fine.

Dresses may be easier to take in than let out, but guest lists are not. -- kate51485

  • We both wore white button up shirts, and he wore khakis and brown shoes. I wore a fuschia linen skirt from Banana Republic and black wedges.

    Full ensemble:

Closer detail of skirt (though the embroidery didn't show up too well on film, so maybe it's not a great idea to do that):

I would also stay away from small jewelry or busy patterns, as others have said. Have fun!

Jeans and sweaters  :)  Because thats what we're most comfortable in.  We had them done in central park, just two days after he proposed.
