  • OK ladies, we'll find something lighter to serve as well.  Thanks for the input!

  • Well Adamar next time I come to Florida I'm coming over to fix you some Brussels sprouts. I will change your mind.
  • As PP's have mentioned, maybe a lighter entree and/or sides would help, but I'm rather curious where in north GA (since I live up here too) you are getting married.
  • Also, I was the pickiest child on Planet Earth and wouldn't have touched a Brussel sprout with a ten foot pole when I was a kid. But I do love them now.

    Deal.

Eagles, that doesn't seem the best strategy to get a child to eat brussels sprouts.

  • Thanks for making me hungry, OP.

(I'm Southern, so my vote doesn't really count but nomnomnomnom.)
  • I don't get the push for "lighter" fare. Couldn't someone who wants to eat relatively lightly eat the chicken with no skin, salad, the other (so far unnamed) veggie and maybe some mashed potatoes?
  • I love southern food.  Enough that I agreed to move to the south.  :P

  • mica will do just about anything for good food, don't forget that
  • Sounds awesome. I think I want to come to your reception now... :)

[QUOTE]Offer grilled chicken or fish, and I think you've got your entrees covered.  Let's be really honest here.  Sometimes, rich food upsets stomachs, especially if they aren't used to it.  Do you really want people lined up for the restroom?  SORRY THAT'S TMI EAGLES.

This is exactly what I was going to say. All of the food sounds delicious, but with all the grease from frying, I would spend most of the reception in the restroom. Granted, I have a sensitive digestive track, but I doubt I'm the only one!
  • Dear OP, will you please invite the entire E board to your wedding?  Because I think we all want to attend now.  Thanks!

  • Hell yeah that sounds yummy! Yes not the most health concious but people can go back on their diet the next day
  • It's great that you're being so thoughtful to your guests. But I had to laugh a little because think about it - do only Italians like Italian food? Mexicans are the only ones who eat Mexican food? Why on earth would non-southerners not like southern food? It's not like it's some crazy out-there cuisine or anything - I think southern food is pretty universal in the US, most people are familiar with it and whether they like it or not is just going to depend on personal tastes like with anything else.
  • I am a Native of New England but live in Upstate New York and your menu sounds delicious (except I don't care for anything Cajun, but that's just me.  My FI-a New Yorker-loves Cajun)

My only dislike with Southern food is that I think you overcook your vegetables.  But my Southern Friends think I don't cook them long enough. Smile

This is exactly what I was thinking.  Strangely enough, they DO fry chicken north of the Mason Dixon line.  It's not like you're going to be serving alligator soup and a side of, I don't know, something that people outside of the south don't normally eat.  These are pretty common food items.  My stomach probably couldn't handle the grease on this menu, but I wouldn't poke at the chicken like it was foreign to me.  I'd take the skin off and do my best.  Or eat the skin because it's delicious and then poop at your wedding.
  • I would eat it all and have a fab time. And I'm from Wisconsin. We just eat beer,  cheese, and brats here.Wink
