Yoo hooooooooo

Today, DH and I found out that our good friend and his wife are expecting a baby girl! Today alone, I spent $20 on baby clothes at Kohl's, and she's still got 5 months to go! This baby is bad news for my bank account. :)

How was everyone else's day?

Re: Yoo hooooooooo

  • Aww I love baby girls!  So fun.

DH's b/f's wife is about to pop any day day but we don't know what she's having.  We all think it'll be a boy.  They already have an adorable little girl.

My day was pretty good.  Left work early for my bar interview.  Got really weirded out by the old lady who interviewed me but then I was home by 3:30.
  • I love baby girls and I swear they have the cutest clothes. It was so hard for me to choose what to get for her. Most of us guessed that it was a girl, and we are so happy for them! I can live vicariously through them until DH and I are ready to have a baby. :)

It's always nice to get out of work early. And yay, I get to meet you in 12 days!

  • I have a spending problem with it comes to my niece and nephew. Didya SEE the cute jacket and boots I bought?

  • I did, Fish! They were adorable! Give me any excuse to buy baby things and I will!

This is a dress I got for her. Our friend's nickname is Cheetah and I call her Baby Cheetah, so it seems fitting. :) I normally don't like seeing animal prints on babies, but eh. I had to get it!

  • Yay for 12 days.

DH is getting major baby fever.  We may have to steal his b/f's baby for a couple days.  Oops, I mean borrow, of course.

Fishy - did you find an outfit for Liam?
  • So my only friend right now that is pregnant is actually lpstl. I've only hung out with the girl twice in real life and I have a list a mile long of crap I want to get for her and her baby. Seriously. I have prints on my etsy favorites list, books I want to buy, I found a really cute piggy bank the other day, a massage for her, I have sooo many things I want to get. I hope she doesn't read this :)

My day was ok I guess. I mean it was a monday and I was with middle schoolers all day, so you know.
    Leo says hi. He's...special.

  • Nice, Jess! DH wants to go shooting really badly, but you need to have a permit here in CT to go to a range. I miss living down south where it was so easy to just go shooting wherever and whenever!

  • Nothing I'm totally in love with!! I will find something. OH YES. I WILL FIND SOMETHING.

  • Julez - See, I'm the one with baby fever and DH is bringing me back to reality, reminding me about our goals to finish school first and get more settled. Dammit.

  • I can honestly say that the more I see people with babies, the more we're certain we aren't ready for them.

  • Ggame, we live in PA. We're not south! Of course as soon as you cross into WV, everyone has a southern accent. We only would need a permit to carry a concealed weapon. We will probably get permits because I'm going to school downtown in January and its kinda shady there. We don't have any guns, we've been using my uncle and my dad's guns. DH wants a gun for Christmas now. I told him that if we get a gun, it will be mine and I'll let him borrow it :) I'm the better shot.

  • We just found FBIL/FSIL are TTC and we're so excited.  It will be my first niece/nephew and we are going to spoil the crap out of that kid!

I'm here, chilling.  Literally.  It's cold and snowy!

  • Jess - We have 2 and just have them for protection at the moment. If we get our butts in gear, we'll go apply for a permit and take the necessary class (or whatever.) I just think it's silly that DH was in the military and carried a gun daily, but now he has to jump through hoops to be able to use one here! JMO though.

  • We shot at cans in the backyard over Thanksgiving in Missouri:

We now own a shotgun and I want a handgun as well. FBIL has a concealed carry permit and FI is thinking about getting one.

  • Brie - I think DH should get a concealed carry permit. If there was ever a dangerous situation, I'd want him around to help out! And holy hell - that is one big gun! I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to shoot a shotgun. We have a handgun and a rifle.

  • I was thinking that, mag.

  • PS - I love that this thread morphed into convos about babies and guns. Ha!

  • Haha, Mag. Get out of my head!

  • Fishy - Did you already check out Gap for baby Liam?  There's some darn cute stuff on there.
  • Yeah, we shot a bunch that day.  FI's parents have nine guns in their house!  I didn't really like shooting the shotgun because it just felt like the barrel was too long for my arm and I couldn't support it properly.  The kickback wasn't as bad as I expected.

The Glock was my favorite!  I want one.

I get what you mean about the concealed carry permit.  FI wants one in theory, but in practice it would kind of be a waste of time because he couldn't carry to work, which is probably when he'd need it.

  • Tonight was my second time shooting. Pics from my first time shooting.

My dad owns an AK47... I'm hoping DH doesnt get any ideas. A .22 is big enough for me.

  • I'm afraid of shotguns, I've never fired one! The AK had less kick than a .45. I want a baretta neos .22, my dad has one, but I don't think he'll give it to me. I like the small caliber, I'm much more accurate.

  • For the love of god - if you go to a shower for them and they have a registry, please get them something off of it.  It's fun to buy baby clothes, but there's only so many cutsey outfits parents to be can use...  Bitter.  No, not me.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

Tide - That is what I was thinking, actually. I was going to get them a few outfits and then get them a giftcard to say, Walmart, and tell them to use it for diapers, wipes, formula, etc. We also want to get one big ticket item for them, so I asked him to let me know when they register.

Were there things that you were hoping for, but didn't receive?  And were there things that you got that you could have done without (i.e. countless baby clothes?)

  • Ok, you seriously must get one of these:

It was on my list when I was convinced X was a girl.

  • Haha, I cannot wait for my friend (who is trying) to get pregnant so that I can rush out and do the same thing! Adorable baby clothes, how thrilling!

And, I am well. Just on lunch at work. Wish it was next week (aka: christmas party week!).
  • Ooo lpstl I totally had those when I was little.  I can't remember if any of them had my name though.  I definitely had different pairs to match different outfits.
