NWR: People suck

Client dinner with the office on Thursday night. I'd been drinking wine with dinner, but when we go to a bar afterwards, I order an alcohol-free beer because I have to go to work on Friday morning, but still wanted to have a "beer".

Guy next to me: "So, when's the baby due?".

Yeah, I'm not pregnant.

FML.

Re: NWR: People suck

  • don't take it personally. It was because of the non alcoholic beer, not because of how you look. I think if someone ordered a non alcoholic beer I'd assume too since I've never known anyone to drink one who wasn't pregnant. I would NEVER say anything though.
  • This is FML worthy?  I would've laughed at him and said "I know!  Who drinks non-alcoholic beer unless they are pregnant?  Me, I suppose."
  • Yeah, it wasn't the greatest thing to say but I wouldn't take it so personally. It sounds more like he was just joking with you and not that he seriously thought you were pregnant.

"The things I've done, the places I've been, just don't compare to the love I'm in, it beats all I've ever seen."
  • Definitely not FML worthy.  Now, had he announced it to the entire bar...now THAT would be FML worthy.  Just chalk it up to some people are azzes and let it go.

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
  • While I do find it rude to inquire as to the state of a woman's uterus, that doesn't stop people and they're generally not trying to be assholes about it. No one who says stuff like that really stops to consider what a personal conversation it is. It happens.

  • It's not that big of a deal.  I think he was trying to be funny.

    Smile :)
