HELP!! I emailed my dad to see if he was contributing for the wedding!!

Yes, I know, it sounds awful!
Even though my parents live an hour away, I only see them once a month. I decided to send a quick and non-chalant email to my dad about him contributing to the wedding.

This is just the way I've found it easiest to communicate with him. He doesn't talk to any of us very much (mom included), he tends to "buy" love rather than show it. Since he spent three years working in Singapore, we've done most of our communicating through emails.

After sending the email, I keep reading that you NEVER ask your parents for money. It's degrading to them, and they probably don't have the funds or else they would offer. Well, I really don't see my dad offering but he makes 300+ grand a year so I know he's got the money. I just feel really bad, I didn't know it was wrong to ask your parents to help. How do I fix this?
