Classic Car - Lame or cool?

So I am still trying to figure out how I'm going to "enter" the park for the ceremony.  It's basically a park square with a fountain in the middle, and Victorian style houses all around it, and the only other option would be to just stand around waiting to go.  Anyways, I found this classic car company that will allow me to rent either a 1956 Bentley S-1 or a 1936 Mercedes roadster from them for cheap with a chauffer, and will drive me into the park square up to the top of the aisle where I'll meet my mom (who's escorting me down the aisle), and then we'll go.  I think it will be a neat, kind of different way to make an entrance, especially since our wedding has a lot of vintage details in it.  Noodle thinks it's a really stupid idea and will look too pretentious.  Thoughts?

Re: Classic Car - Lame or cool?

  • I think it's awesome. Personally though, I'd be a giant klutz getting out of a car in my dress.
  • I like the idea. I wanted to do something similar but it didn't work with the logistics of our venue and the timing.

  • I think it is fun more than pretentious. Weddings are supposed to be a bit over the top.

FWIW - we got a white mustang convertible because it is the car we always rent on the island. The car you arrive in does not have to be classic, it would just be fun. Just a thought...

Just a thought though - Are your ceremony and reception at two different places? If so would you and Noodle ride the same car when leaving the ceremony?

  • I think it's cool if it's not too terribly expensive.  Also a horse drawn carriage would be cool too.

  • I think it would be cool, probably because I love classic cars (my first car was a '66 Impala convertible) because I don't like it when brides do the horse-drawn carriage thing.

  • Choose the roadster!!!!
  • Sounds like a cool idea.  I'm thinking I may have to do something other than arriving in my Mazda.
  • I'd get the Benz! I love classic cars and I think that would be awesome. And such great picture opportunities.

  • We actually will have a limo to take us and the BP around for pictures before the ceremony and then to the reception hall afterwards.  I suppose I could just come out of the limo, but it's really not expensive at all to have them do the classic car and it seems like such a fun way to make an entrance.

  • The classic car will make for good photos too, if you can get it to hang around. Do it. Dont listen to noodle.
  • Can I ask a ballpark figure for what you're paying?  Or you can pm if you like.
  • I love classic cars!  Go for it.

Oh well I change my mind. If you already have a limo for the day, I would just use that.  I do think it would be goofy to have a limo but use another rental for the two minute entrance.

  • I'm biased since my dad owns the 2 cars in our pics.  Classic cars rock and if you can afford it, then go for it!  When else will it be appropriate to rent one??

I agree- I'd roll my eyes if I was at a wedding where somebody rented a car for two minutes just to make an "entrance".
