invitations

Is it proper etiquette to send the minister and the organist an invitation to the wedding?  You are paying for their services, but I am not sure how that works?  Anybody have any ideas??

Re: invitations

  • I think minister yes, but organist no. For the organist, they're coming because they have a gig, and they're probably not planning on attending your reception. As for the minister, is this a minister who is in your home parish? If so, I think it is good to send an invitation.

  • Officiant yes, but no other vendors.

The presumption is that the officiant is your regular minister/priest and therefore would be invited anyway.  It's still considered proper even if the officiant is somebody you don't know.  Etiquette hasn't quite caught up with the JOP/civil ceremony trend yet.
