Re: Random poll

  • I'm too hungover to think about any of those except for the first one: I wish my MIL was Betty White.
Oh no we dropped the groom!! imagePlanning Bio UPDATED
  • - If you could exchange your MIL for someone famous, who would it be? Julie Andrews

    - Your IL's are coming to visit for 2 weeks.  Your first thought is: Pretty sure TK is going to veto that response

    - You get fingerprinted when you: When I cash a check at some banks and when I went for my Visa

    - Your family (you and your SO) get an opportunity to live abroad.  Your choices are, all expenses paid in Qatar for 4 years (non-negotiable time, housing, electricity, car paid) OR you get to move to Italy for 2 years, no assistance.  Which would you choose?  Hmm, tough one, but I'm a cheap ass, so I'm going with Qatar

    - If you had a choice between a motorcycle and a Smart, which would you choose and why? Smart.  Can;t carry groceries on a bike.

    -  Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate? Why? Dark Chocolate.  My sis hated it so it was guaranteed she wouldn't get into MY Easter candy once hers was gone.

    - Best desert you've ever had:  I can't really think of any mind blowing ones I;ve had.  I am fond of my homemade chocolate mousse.

    - If you could exchange your MIL for someone famous, who would it be? Goldie Hawn

    - Your IL's are coming to visit for 2 weeks.  Your first thought is: Uuuuugh fucking kill me

    - You get fingerprinted when you: do anything illegal

    - Your family (you and your SO) get an opportunity to live abroad.  Your choices are, all expenses paid in Qatar for 4 years (non-negotiable time, housing, electricity, car paid) OR you get to move to Italy for 2 years, no assistance.  Which would you choose? Italy. My husband would NOT eat any of the food in qatar, it would probably be really hot there, I am sort of afraid of the middle east, and I dont think I could pass up italy. I also think that italy is closer to a lot of places I want to travel to, so it would make that easier as well.

    - If you had a choice between a motorcycle and a Smart, which would you choose and why? I would choose a smart car, even though I think they look stupid as sin. I just would be too scared to ride a motorcycle.

    -  Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate? Why? Dark chocolate, more bang for your buck.

    - Best desert you've ever had: I had this delicious vanilla bean cheesecake once with a raspberry drizzle. it was incredible.

    - Best desert you've ever had: Um, the Sahara? ;) When I was 12, I had a flourless chocolate cake called Black Beast at a local Italian restaurant. I would pay big money to have just one more piece of it.

    Why?
  • I lack street smarts of any kind, and wouldn't be able to find my way around. I've never been to a major metropolitan area. So, jumping to a volatile area where English is not the first language would be too much for me.

I mean this in a nice way, but you should watch the news more often.  For one thing, Qatar is an extremely modern city, with little to no violence towards expats, unless they are Indian.  Sounds weird, but it's true.  Secondly, it's heavily invested in by English nations, nad has large populations of english speaking people there.  Actually, it's easier to get around there than it can be in italy because the entire infrastructure is modern.  Don't forget, in Italy, the first language isn't English either. ;)
  • Yeah, that came off as sounding kind of xenophobic. Oops. I wouldn't feel comfortable just roaming the streets of NYC either, because that is something I am unfamiliar with.I wouldn't know how to read a subway map, or those kinds of things.
I am interested in Ireland because of the landscape, and would love to photograph the rural areas. I am much more comfortable in rural settings, because I've never been around a large number of people in a small amount of space.

No, I didn't read it that way, I knew what you meant but that perhaps you should... think more broadly.  Does that make sense to you? :)  Honestly, I'd been to Chicago a couple of times, but that was the largest area I'd ever been in, and it doesn't *feel* huge to me.  It's definitely a different sort of experience, and part of the reason I'm so looking forward to moving to Sweden-- lot's more open space!

Yes, Sarah, I noticed that, but it was too late to change it as it had already been quoted. *facepalm*
  • - If you could exchange your MIL for someone famous, who would it be?
I actually kinda lucked out in the MIL department, but maybe Goldie Hawn.

I'm going with Italy for the food and wine. Plus, four years is a big chunk of time. Not sure I could commit to living away from our families for that long.

    - If you had a choice between a motorcycle and a Smart, which would you choose and why?
To be the sole source of transportation? A smart. To be an added vehicle? A bike.

    -  Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate? Why?
Dark. Love it with red wine.

    - Best desert you've ever had:
