The Most Annoying Thing You Come Across IRL....

I work at the Information Booth at the Local Mall. I am directly next to the Disney Store, and across from an ATM.

These two grown women (45ish) were encouraging their sons (20ish) and their MOTHER (65-70) to play the Disney Store game. And they're both cackling and screaming laughing really loudly..

For those that may not know what the Disney Store game is, it's when a "customer" walks into the store, and tries to touch the back wall without being greeted..

It's SOOOO hilarious! In fact, you're the first person to EVER come up with this game...

*facepalm*

What annoying thing do you deal with on a daily basis? At work? At the store? Etc?

Re: The Most Annoying Thing You Come Across IRL....

  • I've heard it called the "Buckle Game" here, same concept.
  • I work at a university and we have a policy about not riding skateboards or bikes in the hallways.   The skateboarders have a tendency to run into people in the hallway and knock them over.  My mom, who also works here, got run down by a skateboarder and he didn't even apologize.  We have giant signs everywhere stating our policy and I'll stop people who are using skateboards.   I want to just put a giant stick out and watch them flip over.

  • That is really stupid. I think I would laugh if I say grown-ups acting all crazy like that.

I dunno something that is most annoying recently. I think my brain has shut off for the day now that I am home from work and can breathe for the weekend.

I just kind of stared at them. It's gotten to the point, that if the Disney staff feels like someone is about to do it, they just ask us to call Security. It's technically loitering and causing a disturbance..

  • TJ, where is your dog in that picture?  It looks like he's sticking his head through one of those things where it's a picture with a hole for your face and you put your face in it and someone takes your picture...do you know what I'm trying to say?

  • People who don't have dogs and have never met mine giving me "advice" about how I should handle her/her training. She's a 4-y/o abuse survivor who is currently recovering from surgery. Of course I'm not going to let her run, dingbat, and I'm certain NOT going to take your advice and put her on her back to force her to "submit" when she's behaving badly. But thanks for the advice to further traumatize my poor girl. You're a peach.

    Sheesh.

  • He's wearing his lovey/hoodie. I had this stack of clothes to toss out, and he pulled this hoodie out and carried it with him everywhere and slept with it and otherwise loved on it. Phil put it on him to take some pictures. The wood is just our floors.

  • I work for a very high end fashion retailer.  I HATE when people come in and ask me if people actually buy this stuff and then act like they don't believe me when I say yes.

The store has been open over 10 years and sells over $10 million a year.  Do you really think we just stay open for people to come in and look.  Dumbass.

You should have been around the otherday when Golden was super judgey about a girl who's FI bought her something blue manolos as a birthday/wedding gift. Actually a LOT of people were judgy about how someone could EVER spend that much on shoes. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-undecided.gif" border="0" alt="Undecided" title="Undecided" /> *whistles and looks away*

  • For me, it's overhearing my coworker schedule phone meetings with people at "one o'clock, Pacific Standard Time." Yo, dumbass, we're not in standard time right now. See, California, like most of the US, observed something called "Daylight Savings Time." Repeat after me: Pacific Daylight Time. It's like nails on a chalkboard everytime I hear it. Thankfully, come sometime in November, she'll actually be right again.

This is the same coworker who doesn't hold the door or elevator and almost opened the door in my face the other day. She said, "Oh, sorry." I just looked at her. She basically has no awareness of others and/or thinks she has the most. important. job. ever. Currently she's scheduling the President's vacation to Thailand. Later she'll probably get ihs car washed.

</div><div>Oh god...yes I saw something about it and saw something about the link on the attire board.  You want to know what is worse than spending $1000 on wedding shoes?  Spending money on expensive shoes on a pretty regular basis.   I would NEVER do such a thing:)</div><div>
</div><div>But yeah...the reverse snobbery grates me.  It is the general attitude that a person who only spends $20 on shoes is somehow a superior human being because even if they were a millionaire they would never buy anything expensive.  Sure.
    </div><div>
</div><div>Kind of like the reverse snobbery that comes from certain budget brides regarding expensive weddings, and from those who claim they would be completely happy with a ring from a Cracker Jack box.</div>

  • At a new employee orientation we were all standing in line waiting to turn in our paperwork and the women behind starting sighing really loudly and shifting from one foot to another. She reminded me of a 4 year old about to explode because she had to wait a minute or two to turn things in.
  • Thing bugging me today:

I am dog-sitting a coworker's dog at my desk. The dog is shy but if you approach him slowly (which I tell everyone to do before they touch him) he's usually fine. One of our interns is young and full of energy and would not leave the dog alone. I kept trying to get him to go away and let the dog calm down (he was barking and growling, not ok in the office) but he just kept trying to get the dog to let him pet it, then making it jealous by playing with the puppy (another coworker's dog) right in front of it.

Jeebus, leave it alone, especially after I tell you to!

  • Right now the most annoying thing is that the dog days of August have officially hit my city so it's hot and humid, especially at my work. The night supervisor always insists on shutting of the A/C at 2 pm, despite that it's over 90 degrees outside. I can't get it through his English-deprived head of how illegal and dangerous it is, not to mention a severe health violation. I usually keep turning it back on and closing the doors, walking back and forth because explaining it to him is pointless.
