who's invited to the rehearsal?

FI's parents are graciously paying for the rehearsal dinner. FMIL has a few places in mind but she'd like me to send her a rough head count so she can do her budget.

I have:
FI's parents
my parents
FI and I
Our living grandparents and my grandfather's wife
All BM's and spouses
All GM and spouses
Both readers
Both officiants

For a total of 36

Am I missing anyone?

Re: who's invited to the rehearsal?

  • That seems appropiate. As long as they are considered part of the rehearsal they go to the dinner. You seem like your list is complete. However, if you have muscians, organists, planners, or anything of that sort, you may want to invite them as well. My friend who just got married had her photographer come to the rehersal so he could see the lighting in the church and he ate with the family as well.

  • You've got the must haves covered. I've heard that out of town guests should also be included, but depending on how many you have that could make it crazy expensive. Also depending on when people are arriving from out of town & when the RD is, the time might not work.

We've opted not to invite out of town guests, except for any that might be staying with our parents.Reason being is that any OOT guests that are coming are staying with family. If we invite cousin Bob who lives in Florida but is staying with his paretns who live in town, how do you invite Bob but not his parents. Then it really gets crazy. So we're going with the same list you have listed above.
  • The musician comes with the church. I haven't met her and we didn't specifically hire her, so I think I'm ok leaving her out. I forgot to add the photographers to the list- they offer to come shoot the rehearsal and dinner with their package whether they eat or not.

We still aren't sure if we're allowed to use the church for a rehearsal on a Friday during Lent, so if it's on a Thursday I don't think OOT guests (except for my parents and sister) will be here yet.

    Thanks, ladies!

  • If you have siblings who aren't in the WP I would invite them and their SOs as well.
  • Since they're paying, is it appropriate to ask if there's anyone they'd like to include?

  • We included close out of town family in ours as well.
  • At a minimum, the bride, groom, their attendants with partners, and their immediate family with partners.

It is also a kindness to include people like the officiant and partner, coordinator and partner, etc. as well as out-of-town guests if that doesn't expand the rehearsal guest list too much.
