  • I plan on putting the baby gate up to keep them out of our room once she's here because I knew they would like the new bed and crawl in there with her.

  • My cousin's cat does that.  Sleeps in the bouncy chairs, in the carrier, in the playpen.  It's funny.

  • She looks all cute and comfy.

I'm so anal, that when we got our kitty I told DH he wasn't allowed in the bedroom. He wanted to know why. I told him, "We can't let the cat in the bedroom because I don't want him to get in the habit of sleeping on the bed with us. What will happen in 3-5 years when we have a baby? We will have to retrain the cat, and it will be jealous and cats love to cuddle with warm babies!!And then smother them by accident!!OMG!!!"

He thinks I'm crazy. Which I probably am.

Most cats just jump over a baby gate, unless they are little kittens, really old, or really fat.  Gates are about as effective on cats as telling them not to go in there, lol.
  • Ha! The best "cat bed" in our house is FI's briefcase, when it's open and he has his computer out. Despite the fact that we have 2 other cat beds, including a huge (and expensive) one from LL Bean. Silly cats.

  • My sister's cat did that before the baby was born.  But she's terrified of the baby, so now she won't go near it!
  • any cat I have ever seen will just jump over the baby gate...you will probably have to close the door, and if you have carpet, get a utility mat for outside and cover the carpet so the cat does not ruin it.  I had to do that, I got a really heavy duty mat, with rubber spikes on the bottom so it would grip into carpet...it took her a while, but she actually scratched all the way to the rubber...
I got the mat at target by the welcome mats.
    Good luck
  • RE: the baby gates.  Both cats are older and we've used them before to keep them out of a room temporarily without any problems.  However, keeping them out on a daily basis will probably be more than their curious selves can stand so yeah, already figured that out. ;-)
