Sending Thank-Yous

What is the typical protocol for sending thank-you letters for wedding gifts? I am having 2 bridal showers this summer, one with friends in June, and one with family in July. Should I send out the June thank-you's right after that shower or wait until after the July one and send them all out at the same time?

Protocol is always to get out every thank-you as soon as possible, so it's best for you to send out two rounds, one for each shower.

Yup, send them out right away after each shower.  This way will also cut down on the number you have to sit down and do each time, which you will be thankful for.

Ditto pp. Send the TY's out right away but don't use the gifts until after the wedding.

People will appreciate that you took the time to write them so soon...still waiting for a thank you from my brothers wedding, guess he and his wife should have read this post (a year later and still waiting, although assuming it wont be coming)
