Help! Should I attend an out of state wedding the wknd before mine??

Hello!

I have a really good friend of mine who is getting married across the country the weekend before my wedding.  Normally it would be a no brainer to attend and I would love to be there.  For those of you that have gotten married already do you think it would be alright for me to attend as most of the planning should be completed by then?  Or do you think that there is too much going on and I should not go??

My wedding planner said that it would be fine either way but I would LOVE some advice for those of you that have been there before. :)

Thank you bunches!

  • I would tie up as many loose ends in planning as you can before you leave, delegate to your planner and maybe WP and/or mom.. other family members. It sounds like it would mean a lot for you to attend your friend's wedding. You'll make it work!

  • I didn't come into town until about 4 or 5 days before our wedding.   It was in our hometown.   All the little loose ends were easily taken care of that week.  I think as long as you are organized and have a competent coordinator to lean on, you should be totally fine.  You know yourself best though.  If you are the type that will stress being out of town, even with a small to-do list waiting for you, then you might want to skip it.

  • I might, but it depends on how much stuff I have left to do. I agree with pps to tie up any loose ends to there won't be much left for you to do when you get back.

  • If you have a wedding planner I would think there would be no question about attending. I've been out of town and will be out of town 3 whole weekends prior to my wedding and I don't have a planner. You just have to make sure you take time during the week to finish everything. Go to the wedding just make sure you tie up all your loose ends.

  • I didn't get into town until 4 days before our wedding. Especially if you have a wedding planner, I think you'd be fine. My issue personally would be money. If you can afford to go, then I think you should go and delegate some things to your planner.
