DH and I are bad

and we opened our gifts this morning.

He loves his Bushnell 1500 golf laser thingy and just made a 8am tee time for tomorrow morning.

I got my watch.  Yay... no more asking people what time it is.   Now I need to get it fitted so I can wear it.   I have some what small wrists..

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Re: DH and I are bad

  • FI and I opened ours last night.  We spend half of today at his mom's and then get up early tomorrow to drive to my parents in WI... so we've started the tradition of exchanging our gifts Christmas Eve Eve :).
  • I was convinced that Mark hadn't done any shopping yet. Until last night he called to see if I could bring home gift bags. Then he made me sit our bedroom while he attempted to stuff gifts in to a bag. Then he decided to use a beer box and attempt to wrap it. I should have taken pictures.

  • that sounds funny P2.

My DH pretty much sucks at wrapping.  But not as bad as our friend.  For our wedding he poorly wrapped our gift in newspaper and then demanded I go pick it up right then and there.   a good 6 weeks before the wedding.

  • We opened ours Sunday night, because FI is going to his Dad's house for Christmas.

And yeah, he doesn't wrap either... he orders everything from Amazon, already wrapped.

Mark even busted out the duct tape. He tied a little pocket knife to the gift, warned me that if I expected it wrapped I'd need the knife.

  • Hehe, I'm picturing Mark sitting on the floor with scissors duct taped to himself and ribbons on his head.

  • He was quite upset that I was out of bows. I think he was going to cover the duct tape with bows.

  • Haha! How is duct tape any easier to work with than scotch tape, anyway?

  • more heavy-duty. I don't think he did any folding of the corners or anything fancy.

  • FI and I attempted to exchange our gifts last night because he's working the 11-7 tonight and the 7-3 tomorrow. I gave him a PS3 and a PS3 game I thought he wanted (Call of Duty 2) but oh no he wanted Medal Gear Solid ...and then my FI threw a temper tantrum like he was 5. After that I didn't fee like opening gifts anymore.
  • I would have punched him.

But then again, I told Mark if he didn't buy me Mario Bros for Wii he could pack up his things and move out. But, I'm joking.

  • I should have punched him! But I just went to bed. While I was sleeping he took the game I got him back to the store and exchanged it for the game he wanted. When he got home he apologized for acting like a brat.  I'm still a little upset with him though. He was only willing to apologize once he had the game he wanted. And the fact that I got him a fuccking PS3 was totally over-shadowed by the fact that I got him the "wrong" game.

Whatever though, I'll get over it.
  • He threw a temper tantrum over a video game. How, um, mature.

Yep, that's my FI. That's not the worst he has acted though. One year for his birthday he told me he wanted the DS (this was back when the DS first came out) but I told him I couldn't because I couldn't afford it. But he kept on saying "I can't wait to get my DS for my birthday" and I kept on saying "you're not getting, DO NOT expect a DS because your NOT getting one." When he didn't get one all hell broke loose.
  • I don't think I could marry someone so immature. Seriously.

  • He's not all bad. He's just a brat sometimes. He has a lot of good qualities too. I'm just mad at him right now.
  • Whoa. Materialistic.

Woah. You're shitting us, right? That's beyond ridiculous. Seriously.

  • Yeah, that's pretty bad.  I hope kids don't wind up like that.

FBIL is like that.  He wanted a snowmobile part on year, we couldn't afford it, so we got him a rotisserie because he likes to eat.  He was not pleased, and put it in our truck on his way out for us to return and get him the snowmobile part.  We were livid, and he no longer gets so much as a card.

  • I made my H open a gift on Saturday.  I got him a book called "Server Rants".  Kind of like Kitchen Confidential but on the server side of things.

And last night he gave me a gift.  I have been wanting to get Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred for awhile now, so he picked it up for me as well as the CD "Playing for Change".

Big gifts are tomorrow morning.  I know he got me a lens for my camera and perfume.  So much for that $50 budget we set due to us buying a house.
