UPSET Dress problems

well monday went dress shopping with my MOH, weeks prior went shopping found a gorgeous Mori Lee dress. liked it a lot but didn't love so continued shopping. monday we went to Allisa's bridal  in brooklyn. i tried on a dress and fell in love it was beautiful. satin mermaid sweetheart neckline strapless beaded. I ask the sales women who made the the dress but she refused to tell me, claimed they dont say untill after payments. all tags were removed from the sample even the hanger bands. it sucked. she gave me a price and filed my name and the dress in accordance with there codes.Ive been feverishly looking to no avail dont know what to do.

I'm just not a fan of that -- what will stop that bridal salon from marking up the price of the dress???  I would call them up and let them know that you're in love with the dress, but am not comfortable putting any money down without knowing who designs the dress....it may be an imitation!

I wouldn't purchase a dress from there after that nonsense.  I have heard about that in other local stores.

I'd suggest feveriously searching through the knot, brides.com, and designer websites to find your dress.

ditto! i know it is very common in bridal shops to do that but it is a tacky way to do business. you don't buy anything else without knowing the make and model!

but i'll confess...i got my dress at a shop that does that. i had been looking for 6 weeks, tried on a ton of dresses, when i finally found one i liked and it was a good price and quality, i caved and bought it. afterwards i checked online and in otehr stores and the price was still reasonable. these places make there money off of people like me who just give up.

They're breaking the law and trying to keep their customers ignorant. I wouldn't support them.

I would contact them with this. If they don't comply, I'd report them to the bbb.

To do what they're doing is against the law- I would file a complaint with the FTC and the BBB.  Link below has more information!

definitely print out that BBB page and present it to them!
that is so obnoxious.  I've heard places do that so you can't take the style number and have an imitation of the dress made cheaper (they want you to buy the dress from them)

    HI
Please, don't get your dress in the store in Brooklyn and if the tag is off and it doesn't look that good for you don't buy it.And,sales person should tell you  the price as soon you try it on or before. You should take look in more stores in the City,Queens!Have you been at RKbridal? If you did not yet you should go there, but try to get there as soon they open.It gets too crowed! I am looking for a wedding dress too and it is a lot dresses and many places did try to push dresses that I don't want and I don't like it,and I eally get mad sometimes.Take your time to look for a wedding Gown and good luck!

Never heard of that before! Yikes! that just sounds like bad business. what's it to them to let people know the brand/name of the dress??

I agree- RK Bridal is a pretty good place in NYC. They have a huge selection, just make sure to make an appointment to try stuff on because it gets super packed in there.

And be sure to leave yourself alot of time- there are so many dresses to shuffle through!

There are plenty of other dress stores in Brooklyn; Alissa's gets mixed reviews.  Try Doris Fashions in Bensonhurst; very nice, up front, tags on all dresses and they are direct sellers of many designers.  And if you pay cash, they tend to take a few extra dollars of the price.  I got my first dress there, got MOH dress there, and know of other folks that have shopped there - the service is fantastic.
