Bouquet Preservation

Did any of you do this?  If so, were you happy with how it turned out?  I'm going back and forth on it.  Bonus points for anyone who has photos of theirs.

Re: Bouquet Preservation

  • I kept mine in a vase for a week and then when the flowers looked gross I threw it in the garbage.

Yes, that is my other option :)  We're leaving on our HM two days after the wedding though so I'd probably just toss them before we left.
  • I want to preserve mine in a shadow box.

Yeah that's what I am considering.  There's a place here in SoCal that will come pick it up from the reception and then work with you to custom-design a shadow box with wedding photos/ your invitation/ whatever.  I just can't decide if it is worth a few hundred bucks.
  • I'll share the advice I got on here months ago, if you hadn't seen it already. I wanted to save my flowers in some way too, so I let them dry and then kept a petal from each flower in the bouquet + boutonniere, and some petals from centerpieces and the ceremony arrangements. I threw the rest out. I meant to put the petals in a clear ornament globe to make a Christmas ornament, but totally flaked. The dried flowers still look fine though, so I'll probably do it at some point. I like the shadowbox idea as well.

    This.

I'm going to make sure my photographer gets a nice picture of my bouquet.  And that's it.  Dried flowers make me sad/creep me out a little.

[QUOTE]Your florist should have a 'toss" bouquet for you. I *really* hate the whole concept of the bouquet toss, so I was actually hoping to be able to say "oh, sorry, I'm preserving mine" as an excuse not to do it.  A couple of my friends really want me to do it, but I think the majority will be thinking "ugh, why do I have to participate in this?" like I always did when I was single.

I just didn't do one. Nobody really asked why. I felt no need to defend it, either.

I saw something once upon a time a million years ago where they take your bouquet apart and recreate the effect flat, with your invite, etc.  That, literally, is what made me OBSESSED with invites.  But, I can't find it now.

My one married BM still has her bouquet.  She said she laid it on the table when they got home to grab their luggage pre-honeymoon, and when she got home from traveling, it was dried.  That was 8 years ago.

I am undecided.  Please post links of places you recommend.  We'll be gone 2 weeks, leaving the next day, so I will have to square this away in advance.

EDIT:  Holy shiit, the champagne caught up.  I can't spell.  Although, I did try to correct the errors I can still see.
