Accommodations for out of town guests question.

My fiance and I have been debating about this but I cant seem to find a firm answer about this issue. Does the bride and groom pay for the rooms of the out of town guests? Im not sure how that all works. I knew that we should reserve rooms but I wasnt sure if there was a cost to reserve them then the guest pays a discount for the room. We cant really afford to pay for peoples rooms. Whats the right way to do it? What are all of you doing?

No you don't have to pay for their rooms.

You can get a hotel block.  Basically the hotel will reserve a # of rooms for your guests to book.  At a certain date they will release unbooked rooms back to the public.  You shouldn't have to pay anything for this.  Usually the hotel will give a discount rate for your guests.  If a hotel wants to charge you for unbooked rooms, walk away and find another hotel.

Then you let your guests know where you have booked rooms at a discount rate.  They can chose to book there or not.  It is their call, and their dime.

Although E Post and a couple of others say you should provide accomodations for your bridal party the night before the wedding.  Accomodations doesn't mean a hotel room, a friend or relative if fine.  We had all the BP stay in our suite the night before because the hair & make up people were starting at 8sh
