Recommend your...

Blowdryer.

Mine died and made the most pathetic little sound. I need to get a new one asap as I hate drying my hair with my straightener.

I would like to keep it under $100.

  • Maybe I'm a cheapie, but I have a Conair Ion Shine 1875 and I love it. Before that, I had some random Revlon one that lasted for almost a decade.
  • I don't use my hair dryer all that often but STOP drying your hair with your straightener.  THat is SO bad for your hair.  So SO bad.

I know! I've only done it twice when I had to go see clients and look presentable.

  • I think it's a Conair or some cheapie brand I  bought at Duane Reade, nothing special but it dries my hair ;)
  • I got this and I love it. I noticed my Aveda stylist uses the same brand of straightening iron, so it must be quality.

I swear it dries my hair faster than my old one, and it's not as loud either (my dog will agree with the volume level).

That looks pretty good. The price is awesome too.

  • Mine is some type of Conair that I have had for awhile. I think I got it at Target several years ago.

  • I've seen some hair dryers at Ulta for like $100+ and (while it would be nice to be able to) I just can't see why you would spend so much for something to blow hot air at you. I can totally understand investing in a good straightener or curling iron, but you can get a totally decent hair dryer in the $20-40 range that has no differences in performance from a $100 dollar one. My FSIL has a Paul Mitchell fancy schmancy one, and it takes an ETERNITY to dry my hair and I can't tell a difference in my hair after using it compared to my Conair!
  • haha, brat!  It was killing me so I went to check.  The guest bath has a Conair and my bathroom has a Vidal Sasoon (sp?).  Both are ionic and ceramic because M said that was a good thing and I know I didn't pay more than $30 for either one.

I am not a hair styling genius
  • I just use a cheapie one I picked up at Target. Whenever I can, I let my hair air dry (I shower at night because I work out after work). I usually end up only drying my hair on weekends when I shower in the morning.

  • I use the Rusk Speed Freak--I have really thick hair, and this dries it significantly faster than a normal Revlon or Conair hair dryer (I've tried them all).

It's a little pricier, but check eBay or Overstock.com for the Speed Freak or similar models (I got mine on Overstock.com).
  • I'm glad you asked this because I've been looking to get one just to avoid getting sick from going out with a wet head every once in awhile. I don't do anything cosmetic to myself so I wasn't sure what to get.
  • I got mine at CVS (Conair I think) - it was about $30 and came with a diffuser attachment, and is 'ionic'. It's decent and the diffuser does a good job when I want to keep it curly. I'd ask your hair stylist for a rec as well! (but then find it online for less $)
The one crabbers posted on Amazon looks awesome!

  • I have this one from Wal-mart:

I'm sure it's not the best, but I have thick, shoulder length hair and it works pretty good, gets it pretty sleek.

I splurged on mine, because I felt like the cheaper kinds didn't dry my hair as smoothly as others. It was definitely faster using a Conair, but my hair always ended up frizzy or smelling fried. Maybe that's just how my hair is though!

I use the Chi Pro - they make great straighteners, so I tried their dryer, and absolutely love it! My hair is always super smooth after using it, and I hardly even have to straighten after. It came with a good diffuser, too, if I dry my hair curly. I think it was $120, but I bought it from a salon and I'm sure it was marked up.

Hope you find a good one :)
  • Coming from someone who has curly hair and blow dries it every other day...I have never had any luck with the inexpensive brands.  I've always purchased the professional ones at Sally Beauty Supply.  My first professional dryer was $80 but it lasted 10 yrs.  The last one I purchased 3 yrs ago was $70 and it's still going strong.
  • I have the chi rocket pro.  It's amazing.  It works so well, my hair is so soft and smooth and totally frizz free when I'm done.  And it's fast.  LOVE it.

Mine just died too! However, it died on me once before and I took it to my hair dresser and she cleaned the filter and I was back in business. I suggest trying that first - take the filter out, rinse it, and take a makeup or old toothbrush or something to clean out the other side (dryer side) of the filter.<div>

  • I didn't even know it was possibly to dry your hair with an iron. Craziness.
