What to do? Need advice

My aunt has arranged for someone to drive her to my wedding in NYC (she lives in Philly) even though i told her I would arrange for a friend to pick her up on the wedding day and put her in a hotel overnight.

Since she refused my offer, i ddin't think of perusing the matter any further. now she tells me that the couple who are bringing her don't have a place to go during the day/evening when the wedding is in progress.

Do I offer these people to attend as guests (at over $200/head) even if i only met them once? Ignore them  What do you think is the proper solution, since the wedding is only a week away.

  • Depends on your budget, if you have room for them and if you even want them there.

Personally I'd maybe give them a gift certificate to a local restaurant and a bag with maps and things to do in the area?

  • Since you already offered to help her and she turned you down, you don't have to entertain her ride for several hours. They're in NYC, for crying out loud. I'm sure they can find something to do.

No, I don't think you have to invite them. You offered your Aunt a solution and she chose not to take it. I would say it's on her to find something for the "drivers" do to do. You could always suggest a list of "tourist" stuff for them to do.

ETA: Ok, didn't read clearly enough. They're in NYC, if they can't think of something to do then they're insane.

These were my thoughts.  Be an adult and find something to do.
  • Nope, you don't have to invite them.

  • How can they seriously have nothing to do? Don't invite them. That's redic.
  • Seriously?  They are in NYC and are afraid of being bored?  Crazy.  Don't even worry about it another second!!

  • no way!! you offered her a solution and she chose not to take it. it is not your responsibility to entertain her guests. if they cant find anything to do in nyc, they are nuts!

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • Don't worry about me, Missy. My state had a million tornadoes and you didn't ask about me. At all. WHATEVER.

    WE SURVIVED. THANKS FOR ASKING.

    =)
  • A lot of places north of us were hit really hard, but I was just under the path of the storm- we didn't even get rain. I know of at least 3 tornadoes- one pretty much destroyed a city; these were big monster tornadoes.

Oddly enough, you were the first person I thought of when I heard it on the radio! And then when I got in you had already started OOTD, so I figured you and your closet were okay. :)

This, unless your Aunt wants to fork over $400 for them to attend.  It is not your problem, it is hers.

    Enjoy your wedding day!

WHAT-EVAH. You've been here ALL DAY. First time I've seen Georgia.

But - if it will make you feel better, I'm very glad you are well and safe!

  • Georgia, I have several friends in Columbus and that area, and some up near Athens, but I've seen them on FB. Wasn't sure where you were in relation to that.

The scary thing is - my dad was IN Tuscaloosa last weekend at a funeral. Sheriff came in and told them to go to the basement, and he left for the airport (smrt). Flight was delayed several hours. Thank God it wasn't this weekend.

  • I'm hurt, LDY, really hurt. :(  ;)

  • Don't expect ME to entertain them!

That red line tour bus runs all hours, stick them on that.  I've heard it's fun at night.

The Circle Line is fun also, or so I've heard.
  • LOL OOT... you're funny :)
