Reception and Hosting Wording on Invites

We are having a brief (hour and a half) reception immediately following our ceremony. Ceremony is in our church's sanctuary, reception is in our church's fellowship hall. We will have cake, punch and light hors d'oeuvres...ceremony begins at 7pm, so reception is 730 to 9pm...what is the correct wording to use on the invitations so guests know we are not serving a full dinner? Reception immediately following with light hors d'oeuvres just sounds...idk...long and wrong I guess...suggestions please?

Also, we are paying for the wedding ourselves...but my mom bought my dress...FI's parents are not helping with anything. Is it still ok to only have our names on the invitations?

  • I attended a wedding that said, "Light fare and refreshments to follow" - that would work. They had heavy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, plus dessert. It was fine - we all knew to eat beforehand or to hit McDonalds on the way home if we were hungry.
