I thought people who don't smoke just allow themselves breaks in other ways. At least that is how I have seen it done in every office I have been in.

Yes and no.  I may knot a lot when I'm not busy, but when I'm busy and have deadlines, I won't take breaks.  However, the smoker at the desk beside mine is always outside having a smoke.  Then she gets back to her desk and complains about how busy she is and how she has no time to do everything.

I guess it comes down to poor time management, but I do find that regardless of workload, a smoker will still take their smoke breaks while someone who doesn't smoke won't take the breaks if they're busy.   I know I don't.

Yeah that would burn me too Wading. I guess i never looked at it that way or noticed enough of a disparity. When I am busy, I am busy, not noticing who smokes.

My company offers 100% employer-paid insurance to non-smokers.  It also prohibits smoking on the premesis, including the parking lots.

Needless to say, this isn't much of an issue for us.  I love it.

I'd notice less if she didn't come and talk to me about how busy she is and how she has no time while reeking of smoke :)

Also, I recently found out that another guy on our team is a smoker.  I never even see him come or go.  He gets his work done and I don't care.  So, yeah.  I suppose it's the complaining I hate :)

I get confuzzled. I grew up near the border and listened to a lot of Canadian radio, so sometimes I'm not sure if Americans in general know who certain Canadian bands are, or just Buffalonians. We're a special breed.
