When invites were sent out to my shower on 10/7, FI's grandma promptly FI to let him know that she had just ordered a gift for us and to see if I would just wait to open it until the shower. She can't come to the shower, but she still wanted a gift there from her. That's totally fine, of course! Well it came today. Do I send a thank you now or wait until after the shower? I don't know what it is, so it would just be a "Thank you for the gift! I'm so excited for the surprise!" That's no biggie, but I generally like to make them more personal.
