Another Save the Date question...

I know it's considered rude to put registry information on an invitation or save the date. However, can I put my wedding website on the save the date? It does have registry information, but also has lots of other info too. Is this considered poor wedding etiquette? Thanks :)

Re: Another Save the Date question...

  • I agree.  People will be looking at your wedding web site for other info, so its not like you're throwing Target and Crate and Barrel logos on the main page.

I moved the registry info to the very bottom of the tabs on my wedding web site to make sure it wasn't the first thing people saw when they visited the site.

  • Website yes
    Registry no
  • Yes, you can put your wedding website on your STD'd.
  • Is it OK to put registry info on a wedding website?  I heard that is was, but honestly do not see the difference between doing that and putting it on an invite.  Both seem very presumptuous.

Can someone explain why they are different?

  • The registry link would be a link on the side bar along with all the other links for lodging, restaurants, car rental, etc.

I guess I can see how that is not blatant because people would have to go to the Registry link specifically to read the info.

Does anyone else have another explanation?  Just curious!
  • Putting it on the website requires them to seek it out.  They are asking for additional informaton at that point, so it's OK to give it to them.  It puts the choice in the guest's hands.

If you put it on the invitation, every guest will automatically see it.  There's no choice; you have made it required reading.

  • It is ok to put your registry on the webpage, but not on the STD. When it is put on invitation/STD info that you mail out, it makes it look like a gift is expected. If it is on the webpage, however, that is information that people are searching out themselves because they want it. They are making the choice to click the link.
