Hosting???

So in the "Calling all mothers thread" someone commented..."Paying and hosting are not the same thing."

So it got me wondering...What does being the host entail?  

Paying for the bulk of the costs?  Doing all of the planning?  Both?

    I'd say it involves being the "point persons" of the wedding as opposed to funding it.  That means being the contact persons for the guests to RSVP to and ask any questions, greeting the guests at the wedding, and making sure their needs are attended to.  Other persons can provide funding or space or coordinate vendor activities without actually being the "hosts."

    <div>This is how I would describe it as well. For us, we paid 100% our own wedding, but both sets of our parents were listed as the "hosts" because they did all of the above listed  by Jen as what hosts do.
