Help me de-wrinkle my dress

I have a wedding today.  No iron, dress can't go in the dryer, steaming in the bathroom didn't work.  Halp.

Re: Help me de-wrinkle my dress

  • Doooo you have a hair straightener?
  • No, I forgot that stupid thing.  Forgot my strapless bra too.

    I'm a fuuckking disaster.

  • Welp, you are totally hopeless then. =P
  • On one hand, I have to sit in the car in the dress for an hour, and we're going to melt outside in 96 degree heat, so why bother anyway?

  • Is putting it in the dryer on low heat an option? I've put many an item in the dryer that was not supposed to be in there just to get wrinkles out. Depending on the fabric it's not a problem.

Tank dress, lace back.  Wooo!  Butt sweat is the only problem, hopefully.  Maybe it will get the wrinkles out ;)

I can try really low heat.  I definitely do the damp rag trick with other stuff.  Works great.  I wonder if I air fluff it with a damp rag if that will help.  It won't steam, but it will get damp which might coax the wrinkles out?

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Help me de-wrinkle my dress : This.  One trick that I've used is putting a slightly damp rag and the wrinkled article in the dryer for like 5-10 minutes.  The dampness creates a smidge of steam.

This is what I do. I've used this method with delicate fabrics, and have never had an issue with them being ruined as long as they were only left in the dryer for no more than 10 minutes.

  • Hope you figured your dress situation out J&K.
  • Thanks Loops!  The low heat didn't work miracles, but it made it wearable at least.  I'll wrinkle it in the car anyway, I'm sure so I'm not super concerned.

In other, better news, my regular bra works just fine with this dress (I'm so glad I don't have to run out and buy one), and I found a dusty old straightener in my mom's bathroom.

Not such a disaster after all!
