Tell me something good

Tell me something good that has happened to you this weekend. Mine is going downhill fast and I need something to cheer me up.

Re: Tell me something good

  • My niece came over last night and we made fry bread pizzas (her idea).  DH and I are spending the day today being selfish.  He's playing computer war games in the office and i'm watching girly tv while knotting.  Tomorrow is going to be fab!  No work due to MLK jr. day, we're going to play board games and eat junk food all day.  I'm thinking parmesan popcorn for lunch
  • I applied for a job back in my hometown today, and I'm pumped about that prospect.

Second place in the spelling bee! (Fishy was in a spelling bee: We get it)

I had drinks with some of my best friends yesterday.

My supervisor guy gave me Friday off without having to take PTO because my week sucked.

My mom was up Friday and I got to spend it with her!

I have a bacardi diet in hand and the Vikings are winning.

    It's been a good weekend.

  • I'm still in my PJs and have been playing video games with Ben all afternoon. It's been a blast. I'm also really looking forward to watching basketball tonight.
  • Yesterday I got the house cleaned first thingin the morning, made a sale, and  got yummy junk food.
Today I'm lounging in my pajamas eating nachos.
  • Congrats on the spelling bee - I was wondering how that went.

Good news for me:  fi really liked the idea of doing a family vacation/honeymoon on the cheap(ish) by driving to Sandusky, OH and spending the week on the beach with a couple of nights at the Great Wolf Lodge and a trip to Cedar Point.

A Toledo boy, he said it would be a walk down memory lane . . . and my kids will go nuts when I tell them Great Wolf Lodge AND Cedar Point are involved.

I only ever make it for Indian Tacos.  That was the game plan last night but the 7 year old shot down that idea and suggested sauce, pepperoni and cheese instead as toppings.  They were pretty freakin good!
  • Ya don't say!! Not too sweet for the pizza sauce? I might have to try them...

Now I'm craving gas station nachos.  Thanks.
  • I'm knotting and knitting right now. I knot for awhile and then knit for awhile.

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon and evening with two of my good friends from my chlidhood. It was just like old times, and we've decided that we should get together more often.

I don't work tomorrow and that makes me happy.
  • I've never tried fry bread even though we have some famous place nearby that makes it. Its good stuff I take it?

    nope. absolutely perfect.
  • PS: I don't even know what fry bread is.
  • OK, what is frybread?

We are planning a road trip to Amsterdam (to visit some of his relatives) via Paris, and we started researching the route and sites to see today.  Gawd I love the internet.

  • Hmm Indian Taco's are so good.

Whats the new job fishy? and congrats on the spelling bee :) I'm a horrible vocal speller and always have been. If I can't see it I get all sorts of confused.
  • katie- what's going on with your weekend?
  • Are you thinking about moving, Fishy?

    Katiewhompus, how is your chinchilla?

I have been tying up little loose ends around the new apartment today, so that feels nice.
  • I do a quick (non rising) fry bread.  2 C flour, 1T baking powder, 1 tsp salt and 1 C milk.  mix until the dough is smooth and a bit shiny. Pull of chunks and stretch into mini-pizza crust size and 1/4 or less inch thinckness.  fry until just golden in 360 F oil.

    So tasty.
  • why is my post centered???
  • I'm attempting to plan out all of our  major vacations for the next 3 years. It's fun and stressful at the same time since I think we'll only be able to take one more international trip before we start trying to have kids. But I get to  go to Texas and Mexico this summer, and 2 years later I'm taking my mom on a giant road trip along the East coast to look at lighthouses for her 60th birthday. I can't decide if that will be a blast or if I will kill her after that much time in a car together.  Hmmm...

So anyway for next summer, we're trying to decide between Hawaii (I know, not international, but still awesome), Belize (I've already been, H hasn't), Argentina, Australia, and about 30 places in Europe. I wish we had more money and time :(

We also just got a new grill for H's birthday, I just spent like an hour at the gym, and I'm about to make some chicken wing dip, so those are my good things I guess.

I hope your weekend gets better!

  • Eh, we're reaching the point of pulling out of dream house because Wells Fargo is a shitty ass bank and making life difficult with us. If we still want the house (its really our dream house and we want to stick with it) we have to build a kitchen in it because the seller took everything from it. And Wells Fargo (who now owns the house because the seller bailed) wants us to put the kitchen in before we actually own the house which isn't happening. So I'm super stressed over the financial implications of that. I did hear my real estate agent (very very controlled lady) say "I'm never going to encourage a client to buy a house from Wells Fuucking Fargo" which was funny.
Plus the chinchilla is sick so I'm worrying myself into a frenzy over her and bugging the crap out of her. But I got her to eat some apple slices so thats improvement.
  • Oh and also, Leo just threw up on our new rug, so that's fun.

How is the house coming katie? I hope that or your chinchilla are not the downhill part :(

  • Tlv-For my 25th (negotiable, I just want to wait until I can rent a car without paying extra) I want to drive from Georgia all the way up to Maine just taking my time and sightseeing.

  • Oh dudes, if you haven't tried fry bread, DO EET!

We're playing with the idea of moving. I love small towns and I miss living in one. Plus, my job has kind of sucked lately, and we just feel like we need a change or something.

If I got this job and the salary was right, we'd be outta here and back in the MN.

Katie, what's going on with you?

I do it in a skillet with about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil

After you're done, you can also slice it open like an un-healthy pita and stuff it with whatever.
  • I'm sorry katie :( I hope everything gets better! Man I thought our house hunt was stressful, but yours has been nuts.

  • tlv - If you go all the way up to Maine you HAVE to go to Two Lights. It's this beautiful little crab shack thats sitting between beautiful lighthouses. You can grab some yummy lobster then go play on the rocks and look at the ocean. We go every year and it never ceases to make me happy.
  • I just don't know if I have it in me to keep looking if this house falls through. Renting sucks but I'm thinking of just moving to the same town we're looking to buy and renting for a while to get rid of this stress.
