Bride/Groom/Just Married clothing

There's a post over on SB about that type of stuff, I don't have any of it but FI and I discussed wearing Just Married tshirts to the cruise, because the agent said they might give us upgrades :D

One poster said that makes us trashy, idiots, and attention whores.

Thoughts on that type of stuff?

Re: Bride/Groom/Just Married clothing

  • I couldn't talk FI into that if I offered him a million dollars.  I do think it's kind of attention-seeking.  Couldn't you just tell them you're on your honeymoon?
  • oh yeah! I saw that... I thought it was a bit of an agressive, "I'm just trying to be snarky" thing on her part. I eye rolled right past it because I think it can be really cute. I can definitely see how people would think it was gag inducing, but definitely not trashy! I say go for it.
  • I don't think its trashy, but I probably wouldn't wear a shirt that says Just Married.

We got tons of upgrades by just casually mentioning that we were on our honeymoon.

  • I'm sure we could, and we definitely will :) FI doesn't care either way, as long as it's not rhinestones :D

I'm just wondering about other people's opinions on the stuff.

  • I say go for it.  It's AW-ish, but you're on your honeymoon, so be an AW.

[QUOTE]Even if I told FI that it could get us something free I doubt he would do it. I'd wear a Just Married shirt but thats all, and only for the day I arrived. The people that go all out and buy an entire Bride and Just Married wardobe for their honeymoon are the AW's IMO.

Yeah, I think a whole wardrobe of the stuff is AWish, but one tshirt? To wear the day we embark? I'm still undecided.

  • I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing it and I know H wouldn't either, but I don't really notice either way when someone else does.
  • It depnds what kind of people you are. The kind who wear matching Halloween costumes just to be funny? The kind who poke fun at themselves a lot? Yeah, totally. The kind who are normally AWs and take it VERY seriously and walk around with an attitude like, "I am totes on my honeymoon! Give me shiit, biitches!" I'd give them the side-eye. But yeah, go ahead.

Confession: I have a free t-shirt from Vistaprint that says "Bride" and "Meredith and Oliver, October 10" on it. I'm lame.

  • Freaking do it! You know you want that balcony! What's a t-shirt for a few hours in exchange for like a 3-400 upgrade??

  • I would never ask (or want) FI to wear anything emblazoned with just married or groom.  I can see maybe getting a cute zip up or tank or something, but that's a big maybe.  And there's a fine line between cute and stupid, and most of it is stupid.
  • My friend/BM got me a sparkly Bride tank for Christmas.  I probably wouldn't have spent the money on it on my own, but I'll wear it the day of the wedding since she got it for me.  Why the hell not?

  • Oh, funny story. I wasn't going to do any t-shirts or anything for the wedding day. My MOH insisted that she make us some to wear while we're getting ready. I <3 her

  • Yea, I'm on the side of not a big deal.  You only get married once, so you might as well flaunt it.  My mom got us some of those Just Married flip-flops to wear on the beach.  I also got us some cute t-shirts for the day of the wedding (for free) and we'll probably wear them when we embark.
  • I'd roll my eyes at you.  Not trashy, but still.

Now if you went and got a mickey mouse ears veil and wore that, I'd call you trashy.

I'm going to get one of these from Vista Print now and torture FI with it!  I will also get a tote bag AND a cap.  Maybe even a car magnet!  The possibilities are endless!!!  Thank you, Mery!  Thank yoooouuuuu!
  • I figure this is the ONE time in you're life you're allowed to be an AW.

    Effing DO IT!

I have a t-shirt that says: I <3 ROBERT, like I <3 NY, but Robert is underneath instead of NY.  He always smiles when I wear it. :)
  • LVB, I think that's cute :)

oh and msmery, which design did you pick? I just looked at them, not sure that I really like any of them. Maybe the beach one? It fits! Haha.

Navy, free? Did you do vista too?

  • I'm currently in the process of making shirts for the first day of our cruise that say something about our first anniversary (on the front it'll say something like "One Year Down, Many to Go" and have our last name on the back-- each shirt will be a different color, but the design will be the same), so I say go for it. We embark on our actual anniversary, and I want the world to know. It's also Easter, so I'll be wearing bunny ears. What... I ain't ashamed.
  • Oh, and my husband made me a shirt online last year for our honeymoon in Jamaica, so I definitely busted it out while we were there.
  • Love it georgia!!

[QUOTE]Mery - If it makes you feel better I bought a tank top that has Bride 9.17.10 on it to wear while I'm getting ready.

We have the same date :)

If we were going to Disney (I freaking love WDW), I'd probably not actually wear the hat, but I WOULD wear the pin they give newlyweds.

  • Oh, just do it Whit!

My is white with black a pink. I can't really remember. It has a bride and a groom on it. I told FI I can get him one in black, but it is honestly kinda girly. I might just wear it while I get my makeup done in the morning.

You could also go to hobby lobby or something and get iron-on letters and a $5 tank top.

I haven definitely seen those. Also, bachelorette parties with BMs wearing their own ears in coordinating colors.

Another confession: I have ears I got at Disneyland. But they don't have a veil! Just my name on the back!

  • I wouldn't say it looks trashy or makes the wearers idiots.   I do think it looks silly and immature though.  You wouldn't ever catch me in that junk.
