How formal are the place cards?

We're having an evening wedding at a golf club, and I'm trying to decide how formal to make the place cards.

Our wedding isn't casual, but it isn't super formal either. For the invites we used the more formal format, (ex: Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Smith) but my FMIL said it's fine to have the place cards be more casual. I kind of hated making the invites so formal (mostly because it annoyed me that all the wives lost their first names in this format) so I'm wondering if more causal is okay.

Which do you think makes the most sense:

Mr. Jonathan Smith
Jonathan Smith
Jon Smith

  • We did full first and last names only for ours, so more casual, even though we used the more formal format for our invitations.  Our wedding isnt super formal either but also not super casual.

<div>Thanks! This is what I was leaning towards, I just really wanted a second opinion. </div>

  • We addressed invitations formally, but are writing escort cards with guests' "everyday" names. As in, FI's cousin's full name is Antonio LastName, but everyone calls him Tony. We're writing Tony LastName for the escort card.
  • Your invitations are supposed to provide guests with a guideline as to how formal your wedding will be. Details at your wedding should, therefore, have a level of formality consistent with the invitations. "Mr Jonathan Smith" however is not actually formal; it is a form of business address. Formal social address would be "Mr Smith". If there are two or more "Mr Smiths" then the most senior one is Mr Smith and the younger ones are Mr Jonathan and his younger brothers Tom, Rick and Harry Smith are Mr Thomas, Mr Richard, and Mr Henry.
