how soon to advertise my 'Dr' status?

I am planning to submit my PhD thesis in December and have found the super-cute shirts below!

When do you think I can start wearing them?!!!

Re: how soon to advertise my 'Dr' status?

  • Hahaha I'd start wearing them right now. What an accomplishment!!
  • I am pretty sure that everyone who sees me is going to want to know how awesomely amazing I am!!!

How are you going? Long time no see!

  • Everything's going well! Wedding plans are coming together... 36 days to go. :) How are you? How was your trip?
  • Wow that was quick! Seems like you haven't been here for long and suddenly it's your wedding! Glad everything is coming together!

All well here. Working crazily on PhD. Trip was fun! Just booked the next trip: Osaka and Hawaii- we leave in less than two months! Exciting.

Let me show you some pictures of our interstate trip. Was quite fun!

  • Heya Amoro! What's happening in your world?
  • Pretty pictures.

Is your thesis done? If not, I'd start wearing the first one ASAP.

  • Not quite. I'm writing up the remainder of my results (for the final study) right now, and then it's just intro and final discussion/implications section to do, and then overall conclusions. And, of course, 12395038259023 edits when my advisors read it and send it back with red pen all over it!

How are you doing, aMrs? Hope you had a better day today!

  • WOW! Great pics! :) I have never been to Hawaii, but one of these days...

Yeah, I've been planning this wedding for over a year but just found the boards a few months ago. I'm pretty sure I'll stick around after the wedding, too. :)

My current project is my underwear for the wedding. My dress has a built-in bra so I don't need anything extra there, just panties. I think I want a pair that's screenprinted with "Mrs. Newlastname".... I'm trying to decide if I should order them (Googling now) or just buy a cheap pair and do it myself? Those iron-on transfers are really easy to do.
  • AK, thankfully my butt wasn't big enough to get my new last name printed on it ;-)

  • Thesun, today was much better.

aMr varnished the bedroom floor and since I had access to a car we got to go grocery shopping!

  • LOL Mrs! My new last name will probably take up most of my butt. Hehe.
  • ak, I'm thinking that it would be pretty easy to make your own?

and yay amrs! I'm glad that your day was better. let's hope this is an upward trend! :)

  • sun- Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I just looked at a few sites where I could have them made... $30 or more. I could definitely make them myself, for cheaper than that.
  • I say go for it if you have time and inclination!
  • Things are good here, just dealing with some niggling, chronic headaches. They're pissing me off. Every day for a damn week. I almost had a heart attack this morning because the internet wasn't working. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO!? lol

Sun, I think you need to take a trip to Sweden. Mmhm. I said it.
  • Ew Amoro, I hate nagging headaches like that. I had one a week or two ago... I get them from allergies. Sometimes nothing will help until the weather changes. :(

OH Amoro- complete sidenote: You posted your maiden name in a thread the other day and I TOTALLY remember you from college now. :)
  • OK ladies, I gotta get ready for work a little early... I'm training an intern today (yaay for extra help!!) but I have to clean off my desk before she gets in at 9:00. Hehe.

Rut roh! I hope it's good! lol... I'm sorry, I really only have vague fuzziness from that time. I think that's the year I was friends with Anne though, down your side of the hall
  • Wear the first one immediately- the last two probably once you've defended your dissertation?

BTW I absoloulty love your wedding photos. Your dress was amazing- the whole thing is stunning.

Oh, and I dug up links of stuff I bought my best friend you might also like!

Went and had eyes tested and teeth checked to try and figure out what it was... honestly though, I think it was a combination of too much laptop use/eyestrain and dehydration (even though I drink lots of water, overnight I tend to get dehydrated). I hope you get to the bottom of yours soon!

  • Haha knitti, you are too sweet. I was actually completely tongue in cheek about wearing any of the above, in reference to a prior post (i thought the last one would give it away! Sorry, Australian sense of humour!), but I appreciate that you went to the time to find those links! I am actually pretty sure a friend of mine would love one of those, so I'm going to save that site to look at for her next birthday!
  • Aah! LOL! I I know just the post you mean. It's still early here, I need more coffee. But I do sort of swoon every time I see your wedding photos, and am particularly envious of your dress. :)

Links were no prob to find, really! :)
  • I knew you were referencing the post below. It was hilarious. But I stil think the DR Sun one was a winner.

I've just run out of my BCP, so I'm thinking it's in response to that. If it doesn't stop soon though, I'll go to the dr.
  • You should wear the first shirt right now!

As for the Dr, when I got mine it was ok to start using it right after your defense/oral exam/viva.

Oh yeah, I'm one of these people with crazy name-memory. I think it's because of my job... but I rarely forget a name. Your new last name kind of threw me off... I would have known exactly who you were if I'd had your maiden name from the start. :)
  • Sun - I love the pics from your vacation. Beautiful!

Posted by AmoroAgain[/QUOTE]

Funny you should say that- when I had that long headache, I'd run out of BCP's too so was doing a withdrawal bleed week. I ended up putting it down to hormones, although it took about 4 days after I'd gone back on the pill to subside.

  • I got my MD recently, I started wearing a shirt that said "trust me I'm a doctor" about a week before graduation when all the classes were done.
