My wedding is being held this summer and is going to be a small event in my parents' backyard. We are inviting only family and close friends. I have a set of family friends that I am close to and have been my whole life. The problem is, I'm not close to the ENTIRE family. I'm close to the parents and two youngest girls (who are in high school/college). There are 2 older boys who are married with their own families...I haven't seen them in years and never speak to them (I was not invited to their weddings, though my parents were). They live in a different province.
Would it be rude of me to invite the parents and girls, and not the boys? My worry is that if I invite the boys, my guest list increases by 7 with their wives and family. I want to keep it an intimate affair without offending anyone.
