Do I still send an invite?

Earlier in the year, I mentioned to a close family frend to save the date for our wedding, but I didn't know she had already planned to take her kids to the US Open in NY on our day.  Plane tickets, hotel, event tickets... everything booked.  Today, I received the cake serving set we had on our registry (and I think she also got us pots and pans).   Obviously, I will send her a nice thank you card, but do I still send an invitation?  We didn't send STDs, and I know the standard "their plans may have changed" probably applies, but I just wanted to get some opinions.

Yup I'd still send it. You can include a handwritten note in it that says you know she said they wouldn't be able to attend but you wanted her to have a copy in case their plans changed.

  • I would.  You've already verbally invited her by having her save the date.  I'd go ahead and send it.  Granted, she'll probably decline, but it's nice to be included.

This.  Except instead of "have a copy in case their plans changed"  I'd maybe write something like "I know you said you will  not be able to attend, but wanted you to know we'll be thinking of you and you willl be missed!"
