Invitation Timing Concerns

So I may just be freaking out a little, and I hope I am, but I want to make sure that my invites are going out in time.

Someone is designing, making and addressing my invites. They are making about 150 of them. I just appoved the design and layout of everything and the lady emailed and told me that they weren't going to be ready until May 10th. (Keep in mind I need my final count for the caterer by June 19th) That means I probably wouldn't get the invites out until May 13th because I will have to get the parking info stuffed in it and the postage on it. So that was technically seven weeks to the wedding, but only five weeks from when I wanted my deadline to be for RSVPs to come back so I could follow-up with people if needed.

So I emailed her back and said I felt that it wasn't enough time, so she said the soonest she could get them to me is May 6th, meaning I would get them out no later than May 8th. Do you think that is enough time for people to RSVP, deadline June 12th???

I just want to make sure that I am not cutting my guest or myself too short on time.

Thanks!

  • Yep, that timeline sounds just fine.  Invitations are sent out 6-8 weeks in advance.  The RSVP date is usually 2-4 weeks before the wedding, and it is usually a good idea to leave yourself about a week between the RSVP date and the date you need final numbers by to follow up with guests before the final head count is due.  It sounds like you are right on track with all of those things.

    That honestly seems just fine.

If you didn't send out STDs, it might be kind to reach out to your VIPs to make sure they have any hotel information ahead of time if they're OOT.
  • Geat! Thanks ladies, I feel better about it. I did send out STDs in December, so they know what the date will be and the locations.

  • Since you did STD, I think you will be fine.
