waste of money or no?

Backstory: I used to have a pair of flipfops from walmart, they had bamboo insoles and were the most comfortable flipflops I have ever owned, and when I finally wore them out to the point of the soles disintegrating I couldnt find anything similar anywhere else and have spent the past four years looking.

I just found these lastnight - http://www.dessy.com/accessories/flip-flops-in-bridesmaid-colors/?source=ADW_flipflops_search&gclid=CNCI0_GasqACFQ1N5QodkDj6UQ

Would it be stupid to spend 15$ on a pair of flipflops? I have a lot of foam flippies but I hate how they get all squidgy when its wet out so I would prefer bamboo insoles again. I either need to be told im being an idiot or told to buy them. I cant decide.

Re: waste of money or no?

  • I don't think $15 is too much.

  • If you've been searching for these flip flops for four years, fifteen bucks isn't too much IMO.

  • Hmm, typically I'd say $15 is fine to spend on flip flops (look at reefs and rainbows-those are expensive) but I feel like I've seen that style everywhere for really cheap. Then agian, its probably been a couple years...

In short, $15 is fine imo
  • I don't ever spend more than 2.50 on flops at Old Navy, but that's just me.

  • I don't think it's a waste of money, especially if they are comfortable.  $15 is not that much for shoes, especially if you're going to get a lot of use out of them.

  • I am firmly of the mind that a good pair of flipflops cannot be underestimated.

I had the same pair since college and a cat PEED ON THEM a few months ago, and the first chance I got, I hunted down a replacement.

Flip flops can be really cheap shoes, yeah, but they get worn a LOT by some people (me!) and ones you like are definitely worth it. And compared to normal shoe prices, shoes I wear a lot less often than flip flops, $15 isn't that bad.

So, I have said, in a long-winded and ridiculous fashion - buy em.

  • I think they are really cute. You can proabably get them similar somewhere else cheaper (I had some like that from kohls)... but if you have the 15 dollars go for it.

  • I think I had those same wal mart flip flops.  I had them in brown and in black and wore them everywhere for multiple summers.  They really were the best.  I miss them.

I don't think $15 is too much for flip flops.  If those turn out to be as good as the wal mart ones you must tell me.

Honestly, most comfortable things ever. I normally just do the 2$ flipflops from old navy too, which is why $15 seems so much to me. You all do make a very good point though :)
  • If you love 'em, I'd go for it.

Ive looked everywhere either online or in canada and I cant find anything. I was told there were really crappy versions somewhere in Chinatown in Toronto, but I dont want something thats crappy. The ones I had from walmart lasted 2 years of almost constant wear, I lived in them like julez did. Same as TJ, once it hits a certain temperature thats ALL I wear is flipflops, socks dont exist in the summer as far as im concerned.

Now that I know 15$ isnt crazy, I think I will!!
  • I'd buy em.

The only flip flops I have are Havaianas or Reef Fannings.  So, mine aren't on the cheap side.
  • Buy them. I'm also normally a fan of the cheap ones, but I had a pair in college that I LOVED--LOVED-- and someone stepped on the back of one while i was walking in mud at a party one day and one of them got ripped in half. I duct taped them together for the remainder of the day (it was not a classy party, it was outdoors in the rain and there may have been a bouncy castle, roast pig, tubs of beer, and wiffle ball involved), and I'm still SO sad about that. I've been searching for years for the same ones, and I would probably pay up to $30 for a pair of flip flops that cost me $5 to begin with.

    Buy them.

  • I have pretty much all Abercrombie flipflops, and they're around that price -- I'd go for it.
  • Those are so cute, I'd be buying a few pairs so I could have different colors!  I believe that if you will get a lot of use out of something, than it is worth it to pay a bit more for it.  I have a pair of bronze flip flops that are bit dressier, and I paid close to $30 for them.  But they go with everything, and I wear them all summer long.  So in my mind, it was money well spent.
  • Personally I do not think $15 is a lot for flip flops.. Especially if you have been looking for so long. But then again my everyday pair were almost $70.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • If you do buy them, and you really like them, you should go back and buy another pair.  Then you have a backup pair just in case something happens.

Stores may be carrying them soon too though.

Oh my GOD!! they better be comfortable!
  • I vote yes too!

I am a big fan of the cheapo ON ones too, so I have a couple of those. But I too hate them anywhere near water. So I purchased Croc flip flops and absolutely love them. They are comfy and are fine when wet. Great for the pool, beach, etc. Anything you'll wear a lot is worth it! Your flip flop's are definitely cuter than my crocs tho ;o)
