Wedding Website Recommendation?

My fiance and I want to do a website that has a bit more information than our save the date card and I have heard that the website on the knot can be glitchy. Do you have any recommendations for other websites that we can use? Thanks!

Re: Wedding Website Recommendation?

  • Lots of knotties have used Weebly. Don't use the TK tool - TK is so glitchy and can't really be counted on.

  • I use one on WeddingWire, but I haven't really used it enough to determine its glitchiness.  Seems like most people are pleased with it, though.

  • We're using Wedding Wire as well. So far I really like it. It's a very customizable website, which  is what I really liked. A friend of mine is using it for her wedding in October and it's worked well for her also.

  • We have our wedding website through momentville.com. Love it! :)

  • Our website is through The Knot and so far the only glitch we've experienced is some inconsistency in the spacing of paragraphs. Otherwise it works great for us.

My soon to be SIL used The Knot as well and only had one small glitch with the RSVP system. Something about the entre choices got messed up in the begining but they caught the problem and corrected it before the bulk of their RSPVs came in.
  • OMG!  I've been doing alot of workto get my 'Knot' website going!!!  What are the glitches that people are experiencing??  I need a website as many people are from overseas and I need to put up info on transportation, hotel, things to do, weather etc.  Pls help!
  • I didn't have any issues with my TK website, but I didn't use it for RSVPing, only information. I also didn't use any of TK's other tools, like the guest list manager...that's where I've heard glitches happen.

  • I am using Wedding Window (the free version).  I love it!  It is simple and customizable and has enough pages and space for me.  If you want more, you can always upgrade.  I will upgrade at a monthly rate starting before the invitations go out.  Once invitations go out, I will want to have a little more space and in case anybody wants to RSVP via the website. (The free version has a basic RSVP function but I would like to use the premium one).  Our overseas guests loved it after the save the dates round, so once there is more information on there, I think they will be eager to use it as an RSVP method.  So I'm using the free version for now and the premium ($11/month) for three months.  Check it out, it's been great so far.

  • I'm using weebly for mine and I love how way and intuitive it's been for me.
  • I used WeddingWire for mine, and it worked great!  It was very user-friendly and there were no glitches.

I have not used TK's website system, so I can't speak from personal experience, but brides often post on these boards asking for help because the TK system glitched out and people are not able to RSVP or information is lost.

I used Wedding Window. It wasn't  free, but it was easy to set up and it looked great.

  • I used Wedding Channel. I'm pretty sure they are somehow affiliated with TK, but they have better theme choices IMO. I definitely suggest paying for a web address. People will be more likely to go to it if it is easy to remember. Mine is HunterandChristine.com if you care to look at it. It was only 20 for the custom web address. Everything else was free.

I'm using modwedding.com. It's similar to wedding wire and others that you can password protect and the like.  So far it's the best that I've found out of free websites. Their selections is limited though on design.

  • I built it in wordpress and then bought domain from GoDaddy and had it redirect so we could print a shorter, more user friendly URL on the invites (instead of mrskristinycandfiance.wordpress.com, it's just myfirstandhisfirst.us).

You can get free wordpress themes that work well for wedding sites, and there's a lot more flexibility with the design. I know html, but it's not necessary for wordpress (if you can post on here, you can post on there).
