Liability for childcare

We have decided on an adult only wedding/reception and are going to provide childcare for our guests. Without going into all the details of how, my question is what to do about liability for the babysitter(s)? God forbid anything should happen to someone's child, but what if? Any advice?

Thanks!!

Re: Liability for childcare

  • My guess is that if you're that concerned, you should consult a lawyer. If you're providing childcare at your venue, they may be able to advise you as well.

  • That is one big risk of providing childcare.  We are also having an adult wedding and reception.  Our venue doesn't provide babysitters due to liability reasons but they were able to recommend / provide the names of a couple of professional babysitting services.  I would suggest asking your venue if they have names of some services.  The parents can then contract directly with the services - all of which typically have coverage for liability purposes, etc.  (and typically each caregiver is certified in infant and child cpr, many have degrees in nursing or child care or child psychology, etc.)  Good luck!

  • I agree with the PP.  You might also want to look into seeing if your local area has a nanny service that offers their services for weddings.
