I come with "good" news!

Some of you may have read the morning thread and know about the hearing that was scheduled today.

So the judge denied the motion to dismiss the case. Right now they are waiting for the pathologist (I think) to render his ruling whether or not she died from complications from her paralysis before they go forth with charging him with vehicular manslaughter as well.

So good news I suppose.

I also had a hotdog and cheese fries for lunch. And a coffee milkshake.

And we have power :)

  • At least it's a step in the right direction, Rosie.  And I am so jealous of your lunch.  I had yogurt and a cheese stick, because I forgot to bring anything else.  I am starving!

  • That's good to hear, Rosie! And your lunch sounds delish. :)

  • Can I get a quick recap, Rosie?  I don't read the morning thread because it's usually 3-4 pages by the time I get to work.

    Yay for power!
  • I'm eating the grossest greek yogurt I've ever had. I'm jealous of your lunch.

I'm so glad that the case wasn't dismissed.

    JOT DOTS! :)

Ok here is a c/p if you want to read it but basically, asshole hit my mom's best friend's car and paralyzed her from the chest down. She died around christmas of complications. His lawyer tried to get the case dismissed because the DA has been dragging their feet..

ok and long c/p if you are interested in annoying piss you off details:
<span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';color:#1f1f1f;font-size:8.5pt;">today is a hearing scheduled for the asshole who paralyzed my mom's best friend. His lawyer wants to get his charges dropped because the DA hasn't done much with the case. The anger is still there and it always gets me upset. "Good" news is the DA might drop the wreckless endangerment charge and go after him for vehicular manslaughter because she died. Fucck that kid. Seriously. Hate him.</span><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';color:#1f1f1f;font-size:8.5pt;">Here is another reason to hate this asshole; after the accident (a few months after) he was also arrested because he was driving a car with some kids and they SHOT a horse. WTF. What kind of shitty person does that? Now he didn't actually shoot the horse, but for fucks sake. Poor horse died :(</span><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';color:#1f1f1f;font-size:8.5pt;">The day after the accident my mom's friend's husband A went to go look at her car and the asshole and his mother were actually at the lot as well looking at his car. Somehow A was able to speak to them without killing them and the mother was the only one to speak and she didn't even ask how J (my mom's friend) was doing. the kid wouldn't even look at him.</span><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';color:#1f1f1f;font-size:8.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';color:#1f1f1f;font-size:8.5pt;">ALSO the kid told the cops that it was J's fault. </span><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';color:#1f1f1f;font-size:8.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';color:#1f1f1f;font-size:8.5pt;">AND ALSO after the accident my mom set up a caringbridge account to keep all of her friends and family updated on J's status. My mom updated it daily and really put time and effort into keeping everyone informed. One year after the accident she put something up detailing the day of the accident. It was the first and only time she EVER mentioned the kid that hit her, and when she did she said something about his wreckless joy riding.. thats IT. Well there were 3 kids in the car with him as well and I guess the one boy had his leg broken. That kid's mom EMAILED my mom and tried to say that the asshole really is a good person and that he was really sorry and that my mother doesn't know what she is talking about. Then she said that she had been checking in regularly for J's status but after that post she was never going to check again. Go F yourself lady. </span>

  • Yay! That's great news, :)

  • I'm glad it won't be dismissed. Definitely a step in the right direction, as PP said.
  • Good to hear! I wish my lunch involved fries.
  • That is some good news, Rosie. Hopefully justice will be served and the guy won't get off on this one like too many of them do.

And I am jealous of your lunch. I am hungry and want something yummy like that, but keep telling myself I have to be good if I am ever going to lose some weight.
  • I do know that after the accident when he tried to tell the sheriff that it was Jackie's fault the sheriff got super pissed and even called some people to make sure they built as strong of a case against him as they could. The tire markings on the road show CLEARLY that he lost control and slammed into her. Ugh.

Oh my lunch was good but the coffee milkshake was WONDERFUL. the cheese on the cheese fries was that nacho cheese so it wasn't all that great.

  • That story is ridiculous, Rosie.  I'm sorry :(  I hope he gets his asss handed to him.

[QUOTE]ugh, I HATE that nacho cheese stuff. I'd be so mad if that came on my fries.

I know! I was so disappointed. Everyone in the office was raving about their fries so I didn't want to be the one person complaining so I kept it to myself.

Oh man I eat spinach and grilled chicken with a greek yogurt EVERY day for lunch, let me have some glory in falling off of the wagon!

  • At this point in my diet, I'd take almost any fries, and any cheese, and be happy.

    I miss french fries.

  • At least you know for next time. I think H would swim in that stuff if he could. It grosses me out. I'm not keen on gelatinous cheese.

I really need a diet that will allow fries. They're my weakness (as I'm expressed MANY times here). I'm cutting calories and enjoying my fries right now, but I often miscalculate how many delicious fries I eat.

Now I'm tempted to go to McDonalds
  • I'm glad I just got back from the cafeteria before all this fry talk started, otherwise I probably would have ordered some.
  • Yay! That's awesome news Rosie!

  • That's good news that they didn't dismiss the case.  It absoutely pisses me off at how many people actually get off with that kind of stuff, so I hope they throw the book at him.

My sister's friends' got rear-ended at a stop sign (they were at a complete stop and the kid that hit them apparently didn't see the stop sign OR their car and hit them doing 60mph).  Their 6 month old daughter died at the scene, their 4 year old daughter shattered her leg so bad that it took 5 surgeries and a metal rod, plus intensive physical therapy to get her walking again, the dad had to have a metal plate put in his head and the mom was hospitalized for 2 days.  Turns out the kid's (who was 17) mom worked for the police department and they "lost" his BAC test (according to the police report, he reeked of alcohol, they found empty beers in the car and he was slurring his words).  He ended up getting of with NOTHING.  Not even a damn speeding ticket or failure to avoid an accident (the typical ticket for rear-ending someone).  His insurance company even fought them on paying medical bills and their car saying that because he wasn't issued a ticket, that it wasn't his fault.

  • That is good news. He's not going to walk away from this without punishment.

You know, I had what I thought was a really great salad for lunch. Now it seems sad and tasteless. I want a hot dog. I want cheese fries. I want nacho sauce. I want milkshakes.
