So whos around? How was everyone's day?

Re: Night time

  • I'm here but distracted. My nap earlier gave me a lot of energy and I'm using it to sort through some stuff.
  • My day blew.  I learned an important life lesson today:  always take the day after the 4th off.  I went 1 for 5 with appointments today, and the only reason I got one was because I showed up as she was leaving and caught her just in time.

  • I wish naps always gave me more energy! Usually I feel like I need to nap for the rest of the day then.

I'm feeling soooo lazy right now. I need to work on my finance final but I keep putting it off.

  • I'm still here. I've wasted my day away and will probably do the same thing tonight. H is driving me nuuutts.

I'm around. I'm headed from work in a few. I am excited to go finish 50 Shades of Grey. I'm not sure how I feel about the book yet.

Edited: becaus I always spell grey wrong.
  • Hey starry. Where did you go on vacay? My day was slow as crap but I got to tour one of the residential juvenile detention centers for work, and that was really interesting.

    That sucks, J. :(

  • I think I may be the only person I know IRL that hated 50 Shades of Grey. I thought the writing was pretty bad, and the characters drove me nuts. I know most people don't read those books for the character development, haha, but I couldn't see past that.
  • J&K, that does blow. So basically a day of, 'Gee, glad I bothered.'

It is finally not 100 degrees in the shade here today! About time. Drove middle DD up to he friend's family lake cabin for the weekend. Nice drive, actually. DH and I always have the best conversations on road trips.

Found out a classmate lost her husband last night in a freak boating accident. He was 41 and left behind three kids. Super sad.

  • Musu - naps usually screw me over, but today was different. I don't know why, but I'm not complaining.

Leisel - why is H driving you nuts?

J - I thought you mainly went to schools for your job, or is that completely wrong?
  • I made a FOOL of myself answering our main line at work today. Somebody called and asked to speak with John Smith. I didn't know that we had a John Smith and I asked if she was sure she had the right line. The lady I share an office with was like, "Dude. We have a John Smith upstairs. His extension is X and you're probably talking to his wife." I felt like a douche.
  • The worst part is that we kicked our friends out at 1 even though we were having fun so I could sleep to get up for work.  Got about 5 hours, and the only appointment that actually showed was at 1;30 this afternoon.

So...we could have had fun for longer, and I could have gotten a reasonable amount of sleep.  And instead, I did neither.

    HMPF.

Oh well, now I'm home, showered, and I have a cuddly kitty.  And I don't have to cook dinner.  So my day is exponentially better now!

  • My girlfriend just had to cancel our wine date for tonight.  :(  Damn grown-up responsibilities.

    What's he doing Leisel?

<div>Cuddly kitties make everything better. I have one sleeping next to me right now :)</div>
  • Oh Willy, that is so sad :(

Poke, I do a lot of work at the schools during the school year, but I'm technically home and community based.  I go where the issues are.  During the school year, a lot of the issues are in the school, so that's where I am a lot of the time.  During the summer, the issues are at home usually, so that's where I go.

</div><div>Are you getting t-storms there? It looked like something was brewing east of here, which is almost there. </div>

  • I would have to agree that cuddly animals make a night much better. However, my dogs are still in insane mode for another hour or so, at least. When I get home, they go nuts for-freaking-EVER. But mostly with each other so its ok.
    image
  • I'm here.  My tortilla wrap pizzas were really good, I'll definitely make them again.

I cut the grass today and my self propel broke like 3 passes into the front lawn, so I had to do the whole freaking yard without self propel.  And the heat index was like 110 today so i was dripping in sweat and had to jump right in the shower after.  I did do my P90X workout too though so I did pretty good today.  I am taking this lawn mower back next week and getting another new one, which will be my 4th.  I'm really not that hard on lawn mowers so I don't know what the deal is.  I'm pretty sure the self propel thing would be an easy adjustment and fix but H isn't here to do it and I'm returning it while I can.  It shouldn't break within a month and a half of getting it.

  • Poor Fox was terrified last night from all the fireworks. I felt so bad for him. He slept right in between mine and H's pillows the entire night and would not move his paws from H's chest.
  • No t-storms here, Wally! But you're closer to the opposite side of the state so who knows.

</div><div>Ohh, gotcha. ITA that sounds better than the regular detention. Rehab and treatment are necessary for youth offenders, IMO. What are the ages that go there?</div>

<div>IKR? Ugh. I about puked when we heard the news. He dove out of a boat and didn't know it was shallow right there. Must have broken his neck, I guess. I hope to hell his kids weren't with in the boat. </div><div>

  • Well he's just working all the time when it's not necessary that he do so. He's the manager at his family's restaurant, and he keeps volunteering to close, so we have hardly spent any time together in the past three weeks. I know that he just wants to make money, but I feel like he needs to balance it out better - we don't need the extra money, ya know? I know I'm being selfish about it, but it just kind of sucks how little time we get together, especially after having been long distance for 3 years. Haha, sorry for the whining!

</div><div>Yeah and they have therapy mixed with school so they can keep and improve their education. I thought it was really cool that 5 of them won a statewide writing contest through our MLB baseball team so they got tickets to a game, and got recognition during the game. I bet that was so cool feeling for them! The ages are 13-19, I believe. </div>

  • Okay J, that makes sense. MILs BFF used to do something like that. But she got moved to a different department after trying to claim the agency needed to pay to have a lot of her furniture replaced. She tried to tell them she got bed bugs from one of the homes she visited which infected her own home.

Girlie - who needs friends to drink wine? Now you'll just have more for you!
  • Hello! I'm not too sure how I feel about Fifty Shades of Grey but the ending made me want to read the second one so I'm going to get it from my friend.

I'm about to start on the shitton of homework I have tonight. Damn summer classes haha
  • Just got home from work and i have tomorrow off!

Fi got home before me but I had his house key so he had to wait for me to get home, I get home and I see him sitting in the deck in the backyard going through the mail. I for some reason i didnt know got a letter from Highlights (the kids magazine) and FI had a little bit of a panic attack, lol he thought this was my way of telling him I was pregnant. I thought it was hilarious. but I still have no idea why I am getting mail from Highlights.

  • My day was full of work  but over all pretty good.  We are going to look at another reception hall soon.  Hopefully they have nice prices that fit out budget
