Who dyes their hair Dark brown

and at home? What color do you use and which brand? I never stick to one brand and I am open to trying something new.

  • I do, but sadly  product availability is not consistent enough for me to give you a recommendation.   but this post reminds me it's time to color again.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  •  I dye mine about every two months. I want to go really dark almost black but I think it might be too harsh against my pale skin.

  • You can't imagine what the sun does to my hair. I have a billion different shades.  The ends are lighter because they stick out of my hat.   There are some blondish highlights on top, the underneath is dark brown and the roots are gray...  I'm a mess.

  • Oh I have not tried Nice and Easy, maybe I will try that!

  • Lynda that sounds pretty to me, natural highlights! :)

  • I agree with Mag. Nice and Easy is the way to go. I've tried almost every brand, but I always come back to Nice and Easy. Their color just seems to last longer.

I use soft black normally, but I have used their darkest brown (I forget the color name) and it turned out great.
  • Okay nice and eay it is! Thank girls!

Last time I used Garnier's "Dark Brown."  I bounce around a lot too depending on my mood and the price of the box. I'm fair-skinned and I thought it'd wash me out, but I think I pulled it off okay. My hair is naturally dark brown, but I dyed it darker and it looked near-black for a few days.

  • I swear by Clairol Perfect 10. I don't use brown, but I love everything about the brand. It smells good, my hair always feels nice after, its quick and they have a huge selection of colors.
  •  I went really dark one time and I used a Claroil (sp?) brand and it was called dark esspresso.

I'm fair skinned as well, so you might want to go with more of an esspresso or mocha.

  • When I colored my hair at home, I used the Frederic Fekkai brand from Sephora and had amazing results.  THe color application is very rich and the conditioning treatment you use after makes your hair very shiny and soft.  It's a little bit more on the pricey side, but still not as expensive as going to a salon and getting it done there.

  • Hmm might have to consider Frederic when I can get to town next time, thanks!

  • I use the Garnier products. I only color my hair about once a year, when summer is fading into fall cause my hair gets really brassy/reddish in color. Check out this link for colors. I use either the Medium Ash Brown or the Dark Brown. HTH!

  • I am dying my roots right now as I type!

I use L'Oreal Prefernce in soft black.  It is really a dark brown, and not harsh at all.
