How do I thank the host?

Ok so my bridesmaids threw me a shower last weekend and as I sit here writing thank yous I have to ask a silly question... Do I write them thank yous or do I do something different for them since they were the hosts?

I know my aunt is also planning on throwing me a shower would I do for her what I end up doing for my bridesmaids?

Also, how do I thank my bridesmaids if they take me out for a bach. party?

I know these may seem like easy, duh answers but I feel like just a thank you is insufficient since they hosted (or will/might) host a party for me.

thanks in advance :-)

Re: How do I thank the host?

  • well my aunt threw my shower and i bought her a nice pair of earrings and a card to give to her before the shower started.  maybe a small gift?  jewelry is always good :)  i'm still trying to think of how to thank my bridesmaids for the wonderful bachelorette party.

  • Most people give the hostesses a small gift at the actual shower.  If you didn't do that, then yeah a heartfelt thank you card and maybe a small gift would be nice.  I gave mine a small box of Godiva chocolates.

  • Thanks for the suggestions, though I feel totally behind the eight-ball on this one, I'm glad I know, I need to get moving on this! Thanks ladies :-)
  • We had our engagement party this past weekend and it was hosted by FI's parent's friends.  We brought them a special thank you card to the party with an Outback Restaurant gift card.  I know its a bit different since the shower already took place - but for me, its easier to do it immediatley.
