guest asking to bring friends

So my friend from college is coming to our wedding.  We invited her and her daughter plus a guest.  She has already rsvp'd that she and a guest will be coming.  Now, 9 days out from the wedding, she is asking to bring 3 people with her (not including her daughter).  Our caterer only needs 3 -4 days notice, so the catering is not an issue.  However, FI and I do not want a lot of strangers at our wedding.  She is not currently in my good graces, so I am trying to hold myself back and stay polite.   How do I tell her politely that we don't want a bunch of her party friends crashing our wedding?

Re: guest asking to bring friends

  • She doesn't know that your caterer doesn't need to know and tell her that you can only accomodate the previously agreed-upon number.

  • Just tell her that you are not able to accommadate additional guests.

I say do not give a "reason" as that invites argument, just say no.
  • Just tell her no.  You budgeted for a guest - not an entourage.

  • Who DOES this stuff?  Agree with the others - call and tell her you can't accomodate her guests, but  you do not owe her a reason.
  • " Sorry, no. The caterer deadline for the final numbers has already passed, nothing I can do about it"

    SOOOOO RUDE OF HER!!!
  • Don't give her a reason unless she specifically asks.  You don't need to explain.  Just say "I'm so sorry, but we can only accommodate those originally invited."  And then change the subject.

  • thank you everyone for the suggestions! I was just so worried about coming off rude.  I just told her that we already have everything booked according to the rsvps, and it can't be changed.  I was just so blown away by her asking to bring 3 friends.  I understand that she probably doesn't know wedding etiquette at all....but dang, I would never ask to do that at someone's wedding.
