Anyone else having a surprise honeymoon?

Fi is taking care of our honeymoon details, and plans to tell me on the wedding night where we're going.  I know we're leaving the day after the wedding for 15 days, but not much else.

Did/will anyone else have a surprise honeymoon? I'm excited, but a little nervous too.

Re: Anyone else having a surprise honeymoon?

  • Yes!! The honeymoon is a surprise to me as well. I believe my fiance is telling me the day after the wedding and I know we are going for a week.

I am pretty excited!! he told me i was so busy with the wedding planning that he would take care of the honeymoon and then it turned into a surprise. Smile He did ask me places i wanted to go, but thats it!

I have never been on a real vacation unless you include the jersey shore and have never been out of the country so i couldnt be more thrilled about the honeymoon!!

I cant wait to find out where you went on your honeymoon!

  • Sort of. We had been planning on not taking one so we could save some money. About 2 months before the wedding Dh asked what days I had requested off. I told him and he started acting weird, then said "You need to take off until the 12th, you can't go back to work on the 10th".
About a week later (after he called my boss to make sure I had off until the 12th) I weasled our honeymoon out of him.
I don't like surprises that involve airplanes, I'm wayyy too controlling for that.
  • I wouldn't like that but that's me.  I like surprises but a long trip like that? I want to know what to pack and what to expect.

15 days sounds like Europe to me.  Is that what you're thinking?

  • I don't really know what to guess, he told me we are flying atleast 6 hours (out of Toronto) and that I don't need to pack too much because we'll be able to go shopping there.
He keeps doing small things to throw me off, like ordering brochures from different countries, and having friends "mail" him letters with foreign postage.
I think he's having lots of fun teasing me about the surprise.
  • That was the plan for us, but eventually FI spilled the beans. We're going to Maui.

  • That sounds so cute. I love surprises like that. And I'm all for any excuse to go shopping.
  • I assume you already have a passport? That's really cool that he's keeping it a secret. How fun!

  • Do you have your heart set on any place in particular?  It sounds like your FI is doing a good job planning it out, esp the shopping trip to make it easier all around.  I would be okay with that. ;-)

  • Yep, we both have passports, we need them whenever we visit the U.S.
Thanks everyone for sharing the excitement, I will for sure let you know where we went on May 25th when we return.

now I have to get back to addressing invitations...
  • I'm actually a little jealous.  This sounds like so much fun - especially since I looove surprises.

We are honeymooning in Bermuda where we are getting married.  We've won't have taken a real vacation together until our wedding, so at least I can look forward to that!
  • The husband of a friend of mine tried to surprise her with their honeymoon - he did really well at keeping it a secret until about 2 weeks before the wedding, then he spilled the beans (he took her to an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica!). It was still really sweet, and she loved it!
  • FI is awesome with surprises, so I wouldn't be surprised if he already had it planned.

Our first Christmas, he told me he wanted to take me to Vegas, so I knew where we were going, but everything else was a total surprise. We had a suite at the Bellagio, and front row tickets to a Cirque show every night we were there. I had no idea until we pulled up in front of the hotel. It was awesome! So I totally trust him to plan an awesome honeymoon.

  • AUGH.  I have been trying to convince my fiance for months to do this.  He is such a peen.
  • No, but if I do have one it will really be a surprise as we aren't planning a honeymoon!
