Preaddressing RSVP envelopes without last name?

Hi,

We bought a selfinking stamp with our first names and address that we thought we could use for the RSVP reply envelopes. Does anyone know if the post office will accept an address with first names but without a last name?

<div>They will. I don't know about the etiquette of this situation at all or post office preferences, but with a correct address the letter will get through.</div>

It's the address that the post office looks at, not the names. My uncle sends letters to my dad addressed to their childhood dogs.

  • We did the same thing; they all got through fine. You might want to do a few test stamps before you're using real envelopes though. Took us a few to know where to line it up and how hard to push.

Just curiosity- where did you get those? I really like the idea, and it'd be better than writing everything out by hand (my poor illegible handwriting agrees, my mother's already decided that she'll address the invites because of it).

You can have them custom made at Staples, Office Depot, and the like.  I've had several stamps made for my classroom.

  • I think you're allowed to send mail without any names at all as long as there is an address. You should be fine.
  • We had one made on Etsy. We used the stamp for Save the Dates, and a couple got sent back (incorrect addresses), so I know it worked fine.

  • I got mine off Etsy.  They turned out nicely, although the names were smaller than I would have liked and they were the wrong color ink.

I had our last names put on there because our mail boxes aren't labeled with our apartment number (just last names).  But if that hadn't been the case, I would have just done our first names.
