I am having ZERO luck finding a job in a different city! My husband can transfer, within his company, to an office in a much larger, much better city that is 4 hours from the one we currently live in. We desperately want to relcoate to this city so we can buy a house and get settled before we start to have children. Moving to this city is our dream and there is so much more opportunity for us and our future children in this new city.
The only problem is, I cannot find a job. I have been applying and recruiters have contacted me but once they hear that I live 4 hours away they are no longer interested in me. I have made it clear that if they wish to interview me in person, I could be there the next morning and if offered employment, I could start in two weeks. I will relocate at my own expense and have housing arranged. Nope, they want someone already living in that particular city.
What can I do? We basically feel stuck in this city, that we have no desire to start a family in, and there's nothing we can do. We're working on saving six month's worth of my salary before I just quit my job and move, but I would really like to find a job before I just up and leave the steady income that I have now.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
