Small wedding

Having a small wedding most friends and all out of town family will not be invited. Still want to let everyone know about the wedding and don't want any hurt feelings. Any suggestions?

You could do announcements, but I think some people take that as a gift grab. Word of mouth would work too.

You can send weddng announcements in the mail the day after the wedding to let people know.

Just invite who is invited.  If asked, say you couldn't invite everyone you wanted to.  Then change subject.  Repeat as needed.

Announcements after the fact.  I mean, you can't really go around telling people 'hey, I'm getting married but you aren't invited'.  I assume you'll be telling friends and family you're engaged, right?  If they ask when the wedding is, you can reply that you're still working on the details, not sure yet, etc.  Then when it gets closer something about having a very small ceremony, private ceremony, and weren't able to include everyone you wanted do. They will get the hint.

I have almost the exact thing happening. I have some family in town that won't be invited either (HUGE family) Unfortunately wedding isn't until next summer, so I'm curious as to how this will pan out- I do think feelings will be hurt; however, those friends and family that i've told about my plans are completely supportive. It is about us in the long run- not them.
