Candy Stations

Has anyone here ever done a candy station as their wedding favors?  If so, how much candy did you buy?  Some websites suggested 1 lb per person, and others say 1/2 lb.  I would rather have people tell me what they bought based on experience and provide me with suggestions.  Thanks!

Re: Candy Stations

  • One pound per person sounds like way too much.

  • People only took about 1 sometimes two bags that we had (they held 3-4 ounces of candy). We used Anchor Hocking Jars - 1 gallon size and I bought enough candy to fill it twice.

We ended up having quite a bit of candy left.

But compared to what we bought, we did well.

  • I ordered my candy from candyfavorites.com. SO much to choose from and the prices are reasonable. I did 5 lbs of the jordan almonds b/c my family loves them and the rest I just did about a pound each but I have a wide variety so there's plenty.

    Good luck! Smile
  • I know that sounds like a lot, but it is what is recommended for a candy buffet! I am having one for my September wedding and I bought 300 lbs for 250 people! I went to a wedding last year and they purchased 200 lbs for 180 people and the candy jars looked pretty bare by the end of the night! I guess it depends on the length of the reception and how you want the candy bar to look towards the end of the reception! It's up to you, but I would probably stick to 1lb per person- from experience!

Ditto. We did not do a candy station bc I am not a big fan of them, but I know there are some ladies around here who have, so maybe they will be able to help you more.
  • We bought approximately 1/4 lb. of candy per person for our candy buffet, and that was just about perfect. We had very little leftover, but it was plenty to keep the jars full all night.
