Evening!

So I discovered today that my feet are blantantly opposed to my idea of starting to dress like an adult for work.  I must have tried on 40 pairs of shoes and didn't find a single pair that fit right.

Hopefully some of you had a more productive day!

Re: Evening!

  • Hockey, you got skunked SHOE SHOPPING? That is a bummer indeed. Do you wear an odd size or something? My tootsies are annoyingly narrow and thus, often frustrating.

I had a massage today from my regular gal who knows all my knots and sore spots. She is amazing and I feel so much better. Does that count as productive at all?

  • Wally: that is completely productive!

Not to be gross/tmi...but I think I am starting to develop a bunion.  My toe is definitely started to go crooked and it runs in the family.  :(  so I need wide for my toe end but  i have a skinny heel....I found some that were sort of comfy, but I walked right out of them.
  • LTB: I wish I had ice cream here....instead I am munching on some toll house chocolate chips...because it was the only junk food in the house.
  • LTB: no cookies...just the chocolate chips. hahaha

  • Hockey, that sounds painful and frustrating. And it sucks to not be able to wear all the pretty shoes out there! My one ankle is so messed up from an old injury that heels (other than wedges for short periods of wear) are just not in my repertoire. And flats are usually TOO flat.

  • wally: ya, My knees are screwed up from past injuries...so I really don't wear heels unless they are short and really wide chunky heels...and only for short periods of time. I just wanted a pair of brown and black somewhat dressy shoes...i didn't think it would be this hard to find :(

<div>And if you want them for basically everyday kind of shoes, they really do need to fit right. Gah. So frustrating. Have you ever tried Danskos? Not the clogs, but their regular shoes? They make some mid-height heels and they are super comfortable. </div>

  • Old Lady Confession: I have orthotics in all my running and gym shoes. Sigh.

  • When I was 15 I was told I should stop playing sports, or I should get orthodics.  I ignored the advice.  My dad actually broke his foot walking in his combat boots when he was in his early 20s.  Yup...I have bad genes.
  • Dang, Hockey. Fifteen is so young to have troubles like that.

Was your dad in Viet Nam?
    image
  • Ya he was...

Yup I am a mess....bad knees, bad feet, bad eyesight, psoriasis, etc etc etc
  • I bet he has some stories. I did a section once for Veteran's Day and put out ads saying 'We'd like to hear your stories, vets.' Many people wrote in with snippets and/or photos. And one Viet Nam vet wrote a really detailed account of some of his experience. A few guys, who didn't feel they could write things well, came in to be interviewed. One had been in Viet Nam, and had never told ANYONE his story before. We were both bawling by the end of the interview.

I miss that sort of connecting with people that was such a priviege when I worked.

  • Willy: he was actually stationed in Germany....so his stories are more about working randomly on people's farms in order to have money for the bar :)

My FIL was in WWII...after being too young to appreciate my grandfather's stories, I made damn sure I listened to my FIL's stories before he passed.  We have so many things as well (his journals, photos, medals, etc). He was an amazing man.  I miss him a lot :(
  • Oh wow! I'm sorry your FIL's gone, but so glad you got to hear his stories.

Kind of funny about your dad. Those stories are interesting, too, though. I'm sure he saw/did some great stuff!

H wants to go for a walk so I"m outta here for a bit.

  • hmm it is dead in here....must be hoppin over at the pro boards tonight.
  • Hockey, try the Taryn Rose brand. They're pricey, but fabulously comfortable for problem feet. My feet are seriously effed up-bunions are about the only foot problem I don't have-and those are great. They're available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and some other good department stores if yo want to try some on.
      Hello everybody.

  • Hi.. anyone still here?

TK Mobile sucks ass and I spent all morning wondering why there were no new threads and hten I got home and found out I just couldn't see them.

TB seems to be broken - if you click on "reply" it takes you to make a new post so there's tons of single posts with no replies on a bunch of the boards.  And they are now on the same mobile format at TK, but some of the boards I lurk over there aren't available on the mobile menus. Color me annoyed today.
  • Loopy, I'm here. Yuck. Frustrating. Looking forward to your nursery pictures soon.

  • Hey y'all! I'm here and just winding down from the day. I went straight from work to work with my mom on my shower list. It took much longer than anticipated.

  • Thanks zizi.. we're doing a combo nursery/guest room for the 4 months we're planning on being in this apartment after the baby comes, so it will be pretty bare bones until then since I have to fit a queen sized bed and a crib and baby stuff in one not overly large room.

    hey everyone!,
Turns out there is an alternate universe TK today.   I was on etiquette and saw almost nothing made and post and commented on someone else's and refreshed and next thing I knew all of this showed up.  Of course the one I commented on isn't showing up on this but I will let you guys read it too.

  • Loopy, that's a lot of stuff, but it makes sense if you'll only be there for 4 months. Your feeling good, I hope?
