Special Wording - RSVP Card

I'd like to know if this is okay to put on our enclosed RSVP cards.  I'm worried that it might be rude, but we have to be very careful about going over our venue's capacity limit and we're already cutting it close.

We want it to say, "We have reserved 2 seats for you" or something to that effect.  Thoughts?

Re: Special Wording - RSVP Card

  • I think it's fine to have a line on the RSVP card that says "We've reserved X seats in your honor," and folks on this board often recommend it as a way to indicate that kids aren't invited without explicitly saying "Adults only" (since it's rude to have "no kids" or "adults only" on an invitation).

  • We put a line that said 'Number attending: ___ of ___' and then for each card, we filled in the second blank with number of people invited. So far it has worked like a charm.

  • Nicole,
I just finished reading your overflow table post and am confused b/c in this post you say you are "cutting in close" to your venues capacity level.  In the other post you said your capacity level is 200 and you have a list of 285.
This goes for both overflow tables and RSVP cards--- /> CUT DOWN YOUR GL NOW BEFORE YOU DO SOMETHING HORRIBLE AND INVITE WAY OVER YOUR LIMIT!!!!
Your venue will shut down your reception in a heartbeat for having too many people in the room!  Just think how awful you and your new H will feel when you have to tell everyone to leave b/c you couldn't stay within your limits.
If it's still your FMIL that is making the large GL, tell her that your venue is already booked and you only get 200!  And that shouldn't even be your guideline, it's the venues.  Just think what they'll say to you when you have to turn in your counts for the food!  "You have how many people over!"  They won't even give you a chance to show up before they lock up the door.
PLEASE, for the safety of others, your sanity, and actually getting to have your reception, cut your GL down to the limit your venue allows, not what you or anyone else wants to invite.   If you can't do that, start looking for another place now.
