Two facepalms

Just thought I'd mention two sort of wedding related facepalms I ran into lately.

First, I receive a wedding invitation from a family member.  Really nice invitations, but marriage is mispelled.  Poor thing.  I'm not making fun at all because that's totally something that would happen to me.  Sucks, but what are you gonna do?

Second, and more head-desk worthy is a girl I sort of know who just moved into a new apartment with a roommate.  They registered for house-warming gifts.  And they're not having a house-warming party.  And since there is no house-warming registry, they registered for a wedding registry.

Anyone got any good ones to add?

  • LIke roomate-roomate?  Not like "romantic partner" roomate?  Huh...

A guy I work with is getting married in about three weeks.  We're not super-close friends, but have known each other and worked closely for about a year.   They are having a smaller ceremony and seated meal (maybe 80-90 people?), then a big "dance" afterwards-- a tiered reception, basically, and they are inviting a lot of their not-as-close friends to the after-party.   He keeps telling me I'll be invited to the after-party, but I haven't been yet.  I know I can't go anyway (hushand will be less than a week post knee-surgery) and to be honest I can stand this guy's finace so I don't really want to go anyway, but I think it's really weird that they have having a tiered reception and keep telling me I'm invited when I'm clearly not.

  • Oh yeah, just a roommate.  Just two girl friends, nothing romantic.

That sucks, Avion.  They're tiering the reception to invite more people, and you're still not invited.  Sounds like this couple needs to just stop telling people about their plans and learn how to be good hosts.

WOW. BAD BAD BAD! Gift-GRABBY and not even willing to host! and....to be honest I've never been to a housewarming parrty where people were expected to bring gifts, more often it is the hosts are supplying the refreshments!! and a registry, really....how old is this girl?
