I am a very tradition person and when I got engaged, I immediately called my father and asked him to walk me down the aisle. He is an amazing man and I love him to death however he does have a drinking problem. My fiance and I chose to have an open bar at our wedding but I am nervous that my father will not set a limit for himself and stop drinking before he becomes intoxicated. Unfortunately he is not the same person after a few drinks and I do not want anything bad to happen at the reception. I cannot imagine not having my father attend the reception but I am not sure how to go about handling this without hurting his feelings but still making it clear that I would not like him to have anything alcoholic beyond the toasts? Help!
